Does anyone agree that if a route is introduced or extended then that route should serve roads not served by official TFL services instead of just following another route. Of course the down side on serving roads that are not served by buses is the cost of installing bus stops. I agree with higthomas it does depend on what the route's function is. I believe there are new bus routes required which follow parts of existing routes, sometimes to relieve them, and at other times to create new links perhaps where a round the corner link is lacking but Route A and Route B intersect then having a route which follows route A then alters course to follow route B at the intersection provides link of value as well as relieving existing routes. I believe that whilst there should be routes serving residential streets perhaps more in certain areas, the existing bus network is far from perfect.

New Route 369 : Clayhall (the Galde) to Ilford
Clayhall the Galde Owens Water House Copper Beech Close Caterham Avenue Calne Avenue Ravensbourne Gardens Mosford Lane Aintree Crescent Fullwell Cross Waverly Gardens Barkingside Police Station Sandringham Gardens Barkingside Station Princes Road Aldwych Avenue Hamilton Avenue Artillery Close Eastern Avenue King George Avenue Newbury Park Station Oaks Lane Alborough Road South (New Stop) Wards Road (New Stop) Durban Road (New Stop) Cameron Road (New Stop) Seven Kings Station (New Stop) New Road Ilford Fire Station Gurdwara Karamsar Temple St Peter & St Paul Church Winston Way Prinary School Hainault Street Redbridge Central Library High Road Ilford Ilford Station (Stop G) (Last Stop) Right turn into Station Road and into Ilford Garage
Sum up:
Clayhall to Eastern Avenue flowing 169 then left and via 396/296/66 to Alborough Road South down to the end with a link to 364 left to Seven Kings then via 86 to Ilford then a right turn into Station road down to the garage.
Advantages:
Connects; Clayhall, Newbury Park, Seven Kings and Ilford. Provides a much needed service on Alborough Road South. Provides an alternative from Goodmayes to Ilford. Services many schools. And helps alleviate stress from 169,364 and 86 all to Ilford. Lastly it would improve reliability for a bus service from Clayhall to Barkingside as there are often problems with the 169 and 128.
Disadvantages:
Return Journeys would not be able to serve Ilford Station due to Station road being one way. The route would begin from Hainault Street and follow 86.
Frequency: Every 15 minutes Mon-Friday Every 20 minutes Sun and off peaks. Preferably Double Deckers to be used if not Single deckers would make do. Short runnings to Newbury Park if needed.

Serving not currently served roads just for the sake of it is silly. I was thinking of this only the other day and would certainly welcome a bus going along the short section of Church Road (Mitcham) between Phipps Bridge Road and Haslemere Avenue... this not being served by the 200 due to it turning off to serve the Phipps Bridge Estate before returning further along into Church Road. Quite a choice of routes could be selected to be extended along that small bus-less section; 44, 77, 155, or 270.

Fantasy it might be, but if people local to the area would comment on their thoughts regarding the demand for such a route, I'd be interested to hear.
New route 392 to accommodate the new Meridian Water station, and potential links up Meridian Way.
Route 392 - TOTTENHAM Town Hall > TOTTENHAM High Road > White Hart Lane Stn > Brantwood Road > Angel Road Superstores > Meridian Water Stn > Meridian Way > Lea Valley Leisure Complex > Limited Stop carrying on up Meridian Way > Ponders End Stn > Nags Head Road > PONDERS END Bus Garage
PVR and Vehicles Consistently every 10-12 minutes throughout the day, so 5bph. Single decks with two doors ideally, rather than the short single door variants. Electric by nature of the current TfL policy.
Operated by A. Arriva London North, Tottenham [AR], Stamford Hill [SF], Edmonton [EC] or Enfield [E], depending on space. Could be a split allocation, but none of the garages have any existing single decks anyway, so this is unlikely. (Enfield has very short ENNs, ideally avoiding those) B. Go Ahead London General, Northumberland Park [NP]. In this case, SEes will likely be the first choice of bus, shared with the 153, 214, 444 and Sundays 357.
Purpose With the station recently opening and replacing the derelict Angel Road, there are more opportunities to allow passengers who are not near the 192 route to have an alternative. An express route up Meridian Way will open the Leisure Complex to those around Southbury, as well as in the Tottenham areas, without needing to get the W8 from Edmonton Green. Lastly, it provides a link from areas not served by the 192 north of IKEA to reach the Tesco Megastore and IKEA itself.
There might come a time when development around Meridian Way will create sufficient demand for TfL to see the route as profitable, maybe not in 2020, but soon enough.

There might come a time when development around Meridian Way will create sufficient demand for TfL to see the route as profitable, maybe not in 2020, but soon enough. A few thoughts - The Bruce Grove leg of the High Road has the 341 connecting into Meridian Water. The section up to Brantwood Road would benefit from your route but there is an onerous width restriction on Brantwood Road itself to keep HGVs from using the A1010 to access the industry in the area. A bus gate would need to be installed. As for connectivity to that rail route, the various parts of the High Road are already well served by the 476, 341 and W3 which connect into the Lea Valley line at Northumberland Park Station which (I think) receives the same stopping trains that call at Meridian Water anyway. - It would require quite a bit of rebuilding work to accommodate but I could see a bus up Meridian Way with stops along the way to serve the industrial areas doing reasonably well once established. The route from Meridian Water towards Ponders End does provide genuine new links - it is worth noting that without great fanfare there is a lot of rebuilding and new housing going up in Ponders End (as I type I can look out of my window and see scaffolding going up on two of the Alma Road Estate tower blocks - these are coming down in the new year) and there will be a demand for bus links to/from the area that the 191 alone will not necessarily meet. In the current funding climate and with the availability of the Hopper fare I can't see 'round the corner' links such as Southbury Road to Lee Valley LC being forged - the 191 will get you to the end of Bounces Road where the W8 can be picked up. Both are frequent routes for the main part. There is a historical precedent to this in the Lee Valley route 363 which ran from Tottenham Hale to Picketts Lock then up through eastern Enfield in the 90s. the LVPRA funded a half hourly (summer?) Sunday service between TH and Picketts Lock but patronage never really picked up on a half hourly frequency. The great passenger boom only took place when TfL brought a high frequency service to the area (192) and a 'London-wide' traffic objective was opened (Ikea). That scale of development doesn't yet exist to the north of the A406 and the pared-back Lee Valley Leisure Complex is less of a traffic objective than it was when Picketts Lock leisure centre was open. There is a 'social' case for plugging the residential areas of Tottenham into the job opportunities along the A1055. Tottenham is saturated with bus services but few of them head beyond the north-eastern fringe of its area. The slog up to Edmonton and Ponders End is a slow one so I think the 'nip round the outside' link the 392 provides would be well received and patronised once people knew about it.
