228 change involves Tower Transit's first foray into Harlesden/Park Royal resulting in a change from Enviro 200 vehicles to Streetlife DF in addition to the changeover point change. Technically not the first time Tower Transit are in the Park Royal/Harlesden area. They did operate the 266 through here and it is also where their Atlas Road base was before RATP taking over the base. What is interesting is seeing Tower Transit have single-deckers in west London for the first time. Sorry I meant their own buses for the first time, they did of course start out with route 70 albeit ex-First E200s.

Not a rumour - it's confirmed in the latest TLB from LOTS. IIRC the tender award specified a lower peak vehicle requirement so this just confirms TfL's intent. Cut from every 8 mins to every 10 so a reduction of 1.5 buses per hour. A proposal to scrap the weekend night service is on hold for the time being - I assume the politics aren't "right". Only TfL could cut routes that are completely overloaded in the peaks and to an area that is seeing massive redevelopment including expansion of schools, housing and retail.

I think I saw on here that the PVR is dropping by 2 so it would seem to follow. The next service change document may cover it. Should be fun in the mornings from Charlton to North Greenwich.

I suggested previously that withdrawing the Welling to Bexleyheath section which is over bussed anyway would be a better option? Reducing the frequency to North Greenwich is ridiculous.

Thanks, that puts a source on it. Absolute madness. Of course, on Tuesday, Khan is likely to nod through a the first massive development on the Charlton riverside, right on the 486 route.

The 486 is the faster route between North Greenwich and Bexleyheath I don't think it would go down to well if it was pulled back to Welling.

Again maybe the best use of resources would be to drop the freq slightly over all but have additional journeys in the morning from Charlton to North Greenwich like the 472 does. Off peak loadings out of N Greenwich are not that heavy that the route couldn't cope maybe every 10 mins.

Off peak loadings from North Greenwich are generally still quite heavy - every so often, I travel to Smyths on the peninsula as it's my local one and it's not an uncommon sight to see most routes leave there with heavy loads.

A x10 minute off peak frequency would probably be ok but the route is much busier at the North Greenwich end than at the Bexleyheath end.

Looks like the usual person who compiles the Bus Changes document is back on the job, thankfully. This opening line is telling... Extended edition, replacing previous two editions
And yes, even though it's an 18 page document, how strange that not a single one of the changes is in the future.
