www.londonbusroutes.net is now showing the 70's extension will take place from the 6 June 2015, and with a question mark indicating doubt over whether it will take place at all. The E200s now all pretty much have new white-on-black blinds, so Tower Transit seem to think it will go ahead. Does anyone know why this has changed? .

I suspect the question mark may be for the date rather than it happening at all. As you say, buses have been receiving new WOB blinds so would seem pretty daft to receive new blinds if the extension wasn't going ahead.

I asked a driver on the 23 today who said that the drivers haven't been route trained, and the buses haven't received the passes which allow them "through the barriers" (into the business park I presume). Maybe TfL's date was a tad ambitious

Maybe TfL's date was a tad ambitious I imagine the DML's at X, will receive a small box containing a sensor fob to enable the gate to open, a similar feature used when the 462 was opereted by First, the DMS's used to have a black box on the offside lower part of the bumper.

I gotta say, I am very dissapointed with TFL's current decisions regarding buses in west London. The 70 is long enough as it is and transverses many locations in inner west london; extending it is begging for service problems. All this time the E11 has been completely ignored, but yet it mirrors many routes from Greenford to Ealing. It should be the one to be extended as it is very often underused except for the morning peak.

All this time the E11 has been completely ignored, but yet it mirrors many routes from Greenford to Ealing. It should be the one to be extended as it is very often underused except for the morning peak. But how would the E11 get extended from Ealing to the Chiswick Business Park? Very simply - just run it on from its Ealing Common stand, Warwick Road (or Elm Court Rd), Ascott Avenue, Elderbury Road, Popes Lane, Gunnersbury Lane, Bollo Lane and into the Business Park from the north end. Not dissimilar to the E10 proposal but it would avoid the issues at the A406 / Gunnersbury Lane junction that sank the E10 proposal. I've no doubt some people on Warwick Rd / Ascott Av would be horrified at the prospect of buses "infecting" their idyllic neighbourhood but they I doubt everyone in that area drives or is able to trek up to Ealing Broadway or across to the 65's route. Running a small bus at modest frequencies down those roads is unlikely to break the bank. I have to agree with Iranair747 about these changes. The route 70 extension is really the worst compromise given the E3 and 440 all run from Acton and get pretty close to Acton Town or the top end of Chiswick Business Park. It's not adding very much to the overall bus network. An extension of the E10 or E11 would give new links from Ealing Broadway to Acton Town / South Acton.

The Countdown route list for the 70 has been updated to include the stops to Chiswick Business Park. No updated Spider Maps yet for any part of the 70 that I can find.

And still no Spider Map updates to reflect the 70's extension. Have all the staff who did the updates been sacked or left? Most unusual for a new extension not to be reflected on or around the time it happenes.

Well the snails working in the TfL Spider Map department have put on a spurt of effort and nearly all the relevant spider maps for route 70 have been updated - mostly dated June and July 2016. The two failures are for Wormwood Scrubs / H'Smith Hosp and one covering North Kensington which remain out of date. Still only 7 months on from the actual change so perhaps I shouldn't complain too much.

After months of pestering them on Twitter and online forms they managed to get the maps changed for Barking and Barking Riverside, all other maps seem unchanged. For some reason the Ilford map has completely been removed from the TfL website and replaced with an Ilford East one TfL used to be very good with this, not quite sure what happened.

The people with the requisite levels of nerdy, detail obsessed knowledge and skills took voluntary severance and left the mad house that is Palestra / Windsor House. And I'm not joking. Sometimes employing enthusiasts with massive knowledge and dedication to getting things right is a sensible thing to do.
