Does anyone know the scope of these works ? If I remember correctly there is a Ballast Track Renewal through Queens Park North End Shed & a points replacement at Paddington.

I heard an automated announcement on the train this evening and had to laugh. It went along the lines of, there are beggars & buskers operating on this train, do not give them anything as it encourages this behaviour.

The one I'm familiar with goes: "There are beggars and buskers operating on this train, please do not encourage their presence by supporting them"

So, after reading reports elsewhere, it would seem that the A Stock RAT suffered a premature ending to its career due to a flashed over motor. So glad I managed to see it one last time last Tuesday heading into Neasden Depot. Rather oddly about 10 min after I had a debate with my Mum over why the A Stock will always be superior to the S Stock (In my eyes)
Still think it's a crying shame that no one at TfL/LU/LTM wants to preserve a working unit. There's over 50 years of working heritage sitting there, which could be enjoyed for years to come - Bouncing their way merrily away through Metroland! In a few months they'll all be gone, forever, converted into Coke cans! You'll end up with someone coming out and saying in a few years "We should of kept a working unit" you can almost guarantee it!
In a few years, we could end up with outings on the 38TS, Sarah & the 4TC, Q Stock, possibly the Standard stock too. Would be awesome if the A Stock was on that list too.

I rather fear that those who have a passion and the skills / knowledge to keep old trains running are diminishing within LU. In the current financial climate and need to screw every last ounce of money out of LU there is no room for spending on old trains unless they have some other purpose. I'd not be surprised to see things like Steam on the Met diminish in the next couple of years. TfL is being turned into a lean(ish) money making machine with no scope for any fripperies unless supported by the Mayor.

No District line today to Richmond and for first time I can ever remember, no District line rail replacement duting a planned closure (Passengers expected to use Overground replacement buses)

No District line today to Richmond and for first time I can ever remember, no District line rail replacement duting a planned closure (Passengers expected to use Overground replacement buses) That’s because of roadworks on Turnham Green Terrace which means buses can’t serve the station. Replacement buses are instead running from Acton Town, on the LOROL replacement as you mention

Couldn't find the appropriate thread for my query so thought I would post it here. When tube lines were planned out how was it determined which stations were to include sidings for reversing trains, e.g. Tooting Broadway and Colindale on the Northern Line.

When tube lines were planned out how was it determined which stations were to include sidings for reversing trains, e.g. Tooting Broadway and Colindale on the Northern Line. Generally it was done at a midpoint of stations beyond the central area. You need to think historically as well, as some of these were at the edge of the built up area (at the time Line was built) so the section beyond did not need as frequent a service. Specifically Tooting Broadway was about half way between Stockwell (where original depot was) and the extension to Morden (remember the Charing Cross-Kennington section opened same time as Morden extension). Colindale was about half way from the original terminus at Golders Green to Edgware. Obviously site layout/space was also a factor

The big thaw has caused severe flooding this evening at Leytonstone resulting in station closure More likely "someone not ensuring the drains were clear of debris and gunge" is what caused the flooding. There isn't that much water around given the thaw has been steady for around 24 hours.
