There are proposals from Tfl to reroute the 100
Instead of serving St Paul's Churchyard, Ludgate Hill, New Bridge Street It would now serve Friday Street then Queen Victoria Street (with the 388)
If the consultation response is positive then the changes would occur from 7th March 2015
These proposals are coming in to help the route avoid junction changes (due to the N-S Cycle Superhighway) at Ludgate Circus. It has been made clear in the consultation that the type of buses will not be changed.
Check the consultation page for more information Route 100 rerouting at Ludgate Circus

I don't see what impact this would have for passengers other than making it inconvenient for them to change onto other buses.

I note that part of the justification of this change is the impact of the proposed N-S cycle route meaning a right turn at Ludgate Circus would not be feasible for a bus. The first of probably many such changes. How long before route 17 has to be diverted away from Ludgate Hill because there isn't space or traffic light phasing capacity for it to turn at Ludgate Circus?
I suspect we were are going to get a piece by piece set of changes because a full consultation on all the required changes would prove far too controversial for bus passengers. Doing it little by little means people won't notice so quickly that the bus network is being made less convenient.

Given how horrendously the traffic on Ludgate Hill/St. Paul's Churchyard can seize up I'm minded to say that rerouting up Queen Victoria St is a good idea. There could be journey saving of 3-4 minutes at many times of the day, especially towards Shadwell, and especially getting into the high tourist season later in the year when the zebra crossing on Ludgate Hill is seldom clear enough to let a car go with all the jams that creates. Given how many routes interface on the streets leading down to Ludgate Circus the links lost are minimal, and still only a short walk in any case.
I cycle in central London as part of my job and while I agree with some of these works I certainly don't agree with them all. There will be painful network changes as a result of this that are going to annoy my 'bus user' side. But I think this particular one will have a net benefit.

Given how many routes interface on the streets leading down to Ludgate Circus the links lost are minimal, and still only a short walk in any case. When I first saw these proposals my initial thought was the same and quite positive, but when you realise the East-West Cycle Superhighway is going to reduce Upper Thames Street to 1! eastbound lane, the heavy traffic that currently uses the road must go somewhere and my guess (unless restrictions are put in place) is that the traffic will use Queen Victoria Street instead. So the time saving could be non-exsistant for Route 100. But this is just my thinking, it's not based on actual Traffic modelling in the City of London. It will be very interesting to see the future bus route changes that come to routes like the 25 maybe to save time on that route we will see it serve Bow Flyover in both directions.

No consultation results but, the changes are planned to go ahead on April 18th April 18th More like *went* ahead on 18 April. Noteworthy that the Service change doc refers to "diverted" rather than rerouted. TfL had no choice given the CSH works have commenced making a right turn at Ludgate Circus impossible. So much for consultation when roadworks override the process - there was actually no choice about the outcome.

Ooops, it's been a long week The consultation report for this rerouting should be interesting, TfL seemed ready to change the routing quite quickly.

The results for the 100 consultation are in. TfL have decided to proceed with proposals to permenantly divert the 100 via Queen Victoria Street. Personally, I am quite annoyed there were no additional stops placed on Friday Street. The response to issues raised is nothing like I have seen before bunching of seperate topics. No concern in the important issues raised by the public. Terrible.
