As a follow on to bigbaddom's post.
I had a wander down to Lea Bridge station. Decent amount of progress from the last time I went past on a train. Platforms are 8 carriages long – a passing train confirmed this! The platforms have nosing stones and lamp standards and shelters in place. I expect they will be surfaced shortly. The stairs, overbridge and lift towers are all built and certainly the bridge and stairs are usable. Hard to see what state the lifts are in but they look as if they are installed. The entrance is largely in place in terms of a long “Z” ramp for level access plus two shallow staircases. There isn’t much in terms of structure for the “ticket hall” yet but I dare say that will be one of the last bits. Didn’t have my camera so no snaps. The hoardings all have paintings and pictures done by local school children extolling the virtues of train travel and the new station.

Thought I'd give my 2p worth as I use the Angel Road to Stratford Monday to Friday and Tottenham Hale to Stratford at weekends. (No trains serve Angel Road at weekends or outside peak hours). The new station at Lea Bridge has progressed to point it now has new platform edge paving tiles. A fence at the back of each platforms. The lifts are still a work in progress as is the station building. No signage or working lighting as yet. As I write this I'm on board a 192 arriving at IKEA! The new station (it it gets built) would relieve some congestion for those that go to IKEA, provided this service is well advertised and service levels are decent. Most passengers that board at Tottenham Hale trace further than IKEA and the bulk of the passengers have alighted as soon as the bus turns into Town Road. In the CR2 consultation, i suggested a station is built in between Angel Road and Ponders End (as there is quite a long gap) to provide an alternative to Edmonton Green as this is only going to become more popular. The 192 has had some improvements, not in capacity or anything similar... (I say improvements tongue in cheek). The ibus for hail and ride has had more stopping points added with road names and sections added to the visual part such as Hail and Ride Edmonton Green Asda and Hail and Ride Angel Road Station. There is no audio yet and clearly a few bugs in the system as the asterisk symbol appears suggestion the new stopping points are no aligned properly. A station between Angel Road and Ponders End would be good, probably by the Lea Valley Leisure Centre, probably called Picketts Lock would help to places like the leisure centre and maybe enable development (probably not council homes though!)

The old Tottenham Hale reminds me of a Central Line station. Nice and interesting photos.

Looks like a final funding package has been put together for STAR. TfL are to take over the sponsorship of the project from the GLA. NR remain responsible for design, delivery and technical assurance activities. Completion scheduled for Dec 2018. From a new paper to the TfL Finance and Policy Cttee. content.tfl.gov.uk/fpc-160727-item11-star-p1.pdf

It will also have a name change - Meridan Water I really hate these name changes - sure I don't live in the area but what exactly is wrong with the name 'Angel Road'. Is it the fact people might confuse it with Angel in Islington! Some people get Angel Road station confused for the more popular Edmonton Angel junction, which has its own station Silver Street.

Mayoral decision on funds transfer from two London Boroughs to the GLA and then on to TfL in support of STAR works. www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/files/md2015_star_md_part_1_signed_pdf.pdfNot exactly thrilling but it does provide an update on where we are and gives a series of milestone dates including start of passenger services. Start on site is imminent - 13 days away - although obviously bits and bobs of clearance works have already been done in a number of places.

The Dept of Transport has agreed to closing Northumberland Park and Coppermill Lane level crossings, also to build a replacement footbridge. This is to allow third track to be constructed between Lea Bridge and Angel Road stations. There is also a reference to diverting some buses going to Marsh Lane depot. Approval letter

They've only just re opened the Level Crossing after a lengthy closure... The "Step Free Pedestrian Footbridge" sounds interesting and expensive... if it is elevators each side, I fear they may get vandalized and I'd think you'd be waiting a long time for an engineer if trapped in one during the evening or weekend... Let's see what impact this has on the 476 as this will mean a longer journey over the bridge near Leeside Road when heading back to NP. I wonder what they will have to demolish to "Three-Track " the line? TfL's Osborne House is quite near to the line and it all sounds interesting

TfL's Osborne House is quite near to the line and it all sounds interesting The whole section used to have 4 tracks, there were 2 freight tracks on the eastern side which were lifted many years ago. If anything needs to be demolished, then it has been built on the trackbed, it will be interesting to see if only relaying one of the two tracks allows a bit of realignment, and widening of centre platforms. I have read somewhere that the plan is to make the centre track (the current southbound track) reversible signalled. Depending on how many crossovers are installed (and if they are long enough to avoid slowing), this would allow non stopping trains to overtake all stations services in the peak direction (towards London am, northbound pm) or if intermediate crossovers are added, both directions. Obviously long 70mph crossovers cost more than medium speed 40-50mph ones, the slower ones need junction approach signaling which limits capacity. Any crossover with a speed limit below 40mph will result in quite low capacity as trains will take ages to clear sections.

Just seen the crossing now at www.leamarsh.com/leamarsh/level.html it is beside that underpass. Apparently the crossing has been a temporary closure for 30 years. I guess it is an easy way to not pay for level crossing maintenance; the suicide place is a joke.

In case anyone is interested the plans for the reconstructed Northumberland Park station are accessible via Haringey Council's planning system. The reference number for a search is HGY/2017/0998. The plans are in section 11. Interestingly there will a 4 track / 4 platform layout with the new bridge designed to span all 4 tracks. There will also be provision to extend the platforms from 8 to 12 cars at a later date. It looks like the 4th track and platform 1 won't be fully provided at this state. There will be a new long ramped bridge at end side of the tracks to give pedestrian access. Access to the platforms will be via steps with a lift to platforms 2 and 3. Looks like 3 and 4 are the main line tracks and 2 will be the STAR platform. Ian Visits has also done a short article which prompted my search of the planning documents. Some info on the proposed Meridian Water station is accessible via these parts of the Meridian Water Design and Access Statement. Part 1 of station plansPart 2 of station plansFurther station plans Meridian Water

Part 1 of station plansPart 2 of station plansFurther station plans Meridian WaterYour links don't seem to want to play at this end - 'document unavailable', it says, though the links look fine. I wasn't aware of the plans to close the Marigold Road level crossing permanently without replacement, though with the scale of the works I figured some sort of mid-term closure was inevitable. It was never the busiest stretch of road. It'll be the long way round over Leeside Road for the 476's dead runs to/from NP. If I ever get off one at Northumberland Park and realise I've left my phone on it* I could probably beat the bus back to the depot over the footbridge! I went up there yesterday to visit Angel Road Superstores Glover Drive Tesco Northumberland Park Tesco the shops. The restaurant canteen area in Ikea gives a good aerial overview of the east of the Meridian Water area - certainly a scene which will change dramatically if these plans follow through. Every bus to leave did so with a standing load and a couple of people failed the Ikea Bus Olympics (purchases too large/long). The 'road to nowhere' exit from Meridian Way opposite glover drive is a mass of rubble now, it is increasingly clear where the new station will be. If it opened tomorrow it would get a respectable amount of use. * a mental scenario I often play out because this has happened far too often, though I have a good 'in service' retrieval rate. I once left my phone on a southbound N134 in Kentish Town (when such a route existed) in a moment of drunkenness in went to get an eat-in kebab, wandered out about 40 minutes later to flag down the next northbound N134 and reclaimed it from the driver who had it in his cab. There are other similar stories.

Your links don't seem to want to play at this end - 'document unavailable', it says, though the links look fine. How odd. There is a massive list of links via this page. planningandbuildingcontrol.enfield.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=O46J8IJN05300The two station parts of the Design and Access Statement are the two links above the "Furniture Palette and Strategy" entry. The third link refers to "Station Framework Travel Plan_P3" which has its own place in the list of links. If all that fails then I'm afraid you'll need to use reference number "16/01197/RE3" and access Enfield Council's planning portal.
