Rather amazing footage from French TV of what happened to some RATP bendy buses when used to transport, I think, Marseille football fans in Paris to a game with Paris St Germain. It's all in French I'm afraid and my french language skills are a bit rusty. Seems the fans were being transported in the buses to avoid marshalling them on normal public transport. For whatever reason they though it best to "dismantle" the bus whilst in motion. Video clip you'll need to click to play.

I'm surprised that the bus was still being driven in that condition!

I'm not a football fan but a little dig around on the web shows that Paris SG vs Marseille is a major game in French football and has a notorious reputation for "fan" rivalry and violence. While the buses were in a dire state I'd guess the Police insisted that the buses kept going so as to avoid the risk of an on street riot / fight.

Your French can't be that rusty, snoggle : that's pretty much the gist of what was said in the news reports. The buses in question will all have been retired from regular frontline service : there is a large bus parking area in the northern Paris suburbs that houses a number of these 25 year old or so Renault PR180s for duties such as this. Although these particular examples look to have been forcibly retired early...

I'm sure the 169 used to have Renault PR180's back in the day (early '90's, during the heyday of flipdot blinds) Terrible what those 'fans' did though
