The one we've been waiting for for a while. Night Bus ConsultationNot read the detail yet. Comments later. EDIT Looks broadly sensible with cuts where we expected them - parallel to the main Tube routes with big reductions on the N5, N20, N155 and Night 88. Interesting that the Night 25 and Night 205 don't feature at all. Shame TfL think the N91 runs via Camden Town. Pleased to see things like the 34, 123 and 307 getting a weekend night service while the 222 and 238 go 24 hour service nightly. I expected a bigger chop to the N73 at weekends but it's only down 1 bph. Slightly surprised that there is no weekend W15 - I wonder if buses can't run via Whipps Cross hospital grounds although that's not an insurmountable issue? Also noteworthy to see the N47, Night 47 and N199 changes to add capacity into inner South East London. I can also already hear the cheers for the Weekend 114, 145, 132, 158, 486, H32, H37 and 154. I wonder if Tom Brake will streak naked down Carshalton High Street?

Shoreditch gaining another night route, night journeys on the 132/486 (though one of the two should have been extended to Dartford IMO ), Croydon and Sutton being relinked with the 154, the N133 finally extended to Morden, the exciting new N199... My only niggle is whether a night service for the 222 is needed, it seems to serve some quiet areas. Similarly with the 307, wouldn't an extension of the N29 to Oakwood Station or even High Barnet (if the demand is there) be enough? I could be grossly wrong in both cases.

The Bath Road corridor west out of Hounslow is notoriously busy - one reason why the 81 has seen repeated frequency increases and the 222 was eventually double decked. Providing a night 222 fills a gap in the network and will people who work at Heathrow and live in West Drayton and north thereof up to Uxbridge to use public transport to work albeit with a change to a N9 or a weekend Night Tube. I guess this is viewed as the best solution for this stage of the Night Tube rather than creating a night U3.

N47 getting re-numbered into N199 sounds not too bad... Not too happy about the N1 re-routing. The N1 rerouting won't really effect much as there will still be a bus serving the Pepys Estate.

Generally good proposals here. Some important 'orbital' services getting a night service would make life a lot easier for some... The 47/N199 business is also some smart thinking. The 238 may be even more useful if it were extended to Becontree Heath, night and day, IMO. E1? Really?! Note how on the maps there are references to the night 82 and 139 at Golders Green without any reference to the N13

I see the 35 has appeared on the South London map as a 24 hour route. I don't think this is a proposal, certainly not one in connection with the Night Tube anyway.

296 is a bit of a strange one, Considering you could have...
N252 Upminster - Hornchurch - Elm Park - Romford - Barkingside
Which then connects Romford with the District and the Central lines providing a nice shortcut!

It is a consultation so you have your chance to tell TfL why they're wrong and to offer alternative proposals. I've already drafted my initial response and saved it for review later on.

Just completed my consultation response. Shockingly, the changes/reductions are quite reasonable and dare I say quite positive for night passengers. 47/N199 idea is genius. Shoreditch gains another night route beneficially for the South East passengers of Lewisham, Canada Water etc to connect to the affluent night scene of Shoreditch. I'm also happy N133 proposal has not been dropped.
The weekend night bus routes selection are good as well. I support most of them except 307 and H37, some others I didn't have no opinions I have never used them. The new night routes for Heathrow and Stratford are good too.
Also, I wrote in my response that routes 154 and 319 should instead become 24/7 bus routes and route 19 should become a 24 hour route and N19 should be withdrawn.

Ruislip gets a night service but only during the weekend yay!
It's about time the 222 had a night service.

Good proposals. Though the planned frequency reductions for the N29 and N38 are quite minor compared to what I was expecting, I wonder if these will see further cuts later.
The 307 proposal restores (at long last) the facility down the Southbury Road lost when the N29 was taken off that section. I was hoping to see one of the routes passing Oakwood station go 24 hour at weekends but was expecting it to be the 121. Though the 307 meets the 'orbital' remit better, I suppose, and the N91 shadows a fair chunk of the 121.

All This Sounds Good. The 24 Hour 47 is a good idea as the N35 by itself struggles in Shoreditch as well as the N47 needs additional support during the Nights. N199 sounds interesting, looking forward to it.
I was shocked to see E1 in that list!

I for one am glad that tfl have made sensible choices without assuming that people will automatically switch to the night tube. These proposals still leave a lot of room for changes on night routes. I am a little disappointed that neither the 163 or 164 has been offered a night service but like I said there's still plenty of room for more changes in the future.
