Another person happy to traumatise their young child and load it with prejudice and bias for decades to come. Oh well the police will be after him too. Don't these people understand what happens in this "everyone's got a video camera" and "CCTV is everywhere" age? He'll have been on upmteen cameras on that NB4L. Noteworthy that the driver seemingly did nothing - not a word. At least the 206 driver did try to calm things down even if "Ms Attitude" wasn't listening. Can someone explain why (a minority of) young black people seem to have such amazing anti Muslim prejudice? I don't understand the culture that would drive such behaviour / views. EDIT - now in the Evening Boris. TfL giving the police "every assistance". I'll throw my hat into the ring - Traditionally, since the '50s, it was the Black man who was looked down on and told exactly the same thing. Since immigration has changed and everyone under the sun lives in London (it's nice to have such variety) there's no reason for this young man to be coming out with such outbursts, seeing as our forefathers experienced the same thing, but were here legitimately to work hard for TfL driving buses and trains. Not to say that the Turkish man (who appeared to be a pensioner and past the age of work) never worked hard, but sadly the cliche of people coming to the UK to sit on benefits may have got ingrained on the young man's mind. Add to that the media's portrayal of Islam since 9/11 and 7/7, which sadly has been of various shocking incidents such as the Charlie Hebdo massacres and the recent thing on the beach in Tunisia. We know it's not all Muslims that behave in this manner, but the media will always focus on them and tar everyone with the same brush. For example, in the Tottenham Riots, it wasn't everyone from Tottenham - there were loads of kids from Hackney that put it out on BBM (BlackBerry Mail) that they were going down to cause some trouble at the protest outside Tottenham Police Station. If you were to put on BBC News the following day on the 8th August you would think, 'here we go, more problems in Tottenham', but generally you don't sh!t in your own bed, there's no reason to deliberately cause trouble where you would be identified and arrested... I had lived in Haringey for over 12 years and had no complaint (apart from the dirty streets that even Veolia couldn't tackle, and the flytipping that still goes on to this day under the bridge at Pembury Road ), so I wouldn't say the area is dangerous. It was the product of typical response from the Met Police (they have never helped in Haringey), bored schoolkids etc... Yet some guy called David Starkey went straight for the jugular and blamed the riots on Black people and their 'disgusting Jamaican attitude'... yet this man was invited to the BBC studio to give his verdict on what happened. Sadly we do react to what the media tell us, be that rightly or wrongly. I wouldn't be surprised if this triggers something else in the area at some point

This is a bus forum, shall we try and keep it that way?
These are incidents of appalling behavior and they are only relevant on here because they occurred on buses.
I would suggest the reasons behind it, whatever they may be, are beyond the scope of this forum.

The debate has not gone "viral" or become deeply opinionated on here so surely no harm has been done? I asked the question and no one has reacted badly.

Why not just say that it belongs in the off route section instead if it's not particularly relevant to buses or shall we not discuss anything but transport on here anymore?

We are discussing an incident on a bus and as far as I can see, we haven't discussed anything that might be considered offensive, but just facts about it. This is an open forum where we can discuss current and historic topics. Just because it annoys you, doesn't mean it mustn't be discussed. If you don't like it, there is the red box with a white X in it!

Yes the off route section would probably be the appropriate place

I don't quite get your opinion, my post was neither aggressive or patronising. I am not hot under the collar or whatever phrase you wish to describe your thoughts on what I said. I merely disagreed your reason for objection

The person responsible for the incident on the 149 has been jailed for four months. Just been featured on BBC London local news.
