How can route 7 be withdrawn when Crossrail open? Won't it still need to serve the residents in between the Crossrail station? What changes to other routes would allow this to happen?

More capacity on the 23 and 70 would allow it, and tfl would be able to claim there is excess capacity like with the 13. DDs and a freq increase on the 70 would easily create a surplus between East Acton and Portobello road area and the 23 meets it there then duplicates it all the way to Oxford circus leaving very little unique to the 7.
The 7 and 23 quite likely carry alot form Paddington to Oxford Street that crossrail could pick up.

The 23 wouldn't be able to cope by itself personally as the route is prone to delays whereas the 7 has nowhere the pressures due to hardly penetrating Central London leaving it as a handy back up for passengers east of Marble Arch, Besides, I think 'COBO' mentioned that the 70 runs past that MP's house so a decker conversion for that route is a non starter.

LOTS weekly update reporting that this changeover is now postponed to 25 June 2016 so another 3 weeks delay.

I wouldn't be surprised if this carries over to the winter At one point I thought this changeover had already been implemented as I saw a few 98 VPs showing 'Holborn' on their blinds while others were terminating at Russell Square about two months ago. I assumed this was a temporary diversion perhaps due to congestion or road works in the area.

They've already changed the bus stop tiles to 10 at the British Museum now.

Stop J at Holborn (Red Lion Square) has been updated with 98/N98 tiles. But no timetable of course
