717006 has entered passenger service working the 11:37 Moorgate - Gordon Hill service. It should work the 13:37 Moorgate - Gordon hill service if everything goes to plan. Fantastic news! Hopefully we'll see more of them being put into service now.

A little update from Great Northern.
313026 has been stopped and will not see passenger service with GN anymore, it is out of miles and requires an exam which will not be happening thus will now be robbed for parts to keep the other 313’s going.
More 717’s are rumoured to enter service the week commencing the 18/02 but that still remains to be seen as more operational issues need to be signed off first.
I was pencilled in to have my two day conversion 717 course earlier this week, but i was removed from that and told to finish off signing 313’s officially, which results in me having my practical assessment whilst driving the following services throughout the day tomorrow. My trainee group are the last group to learn 313’s as a traction.
2J67 1128 Stevenage Via Hertford - Moorgate 2V69 1250 Moorgate - Welwyn GC 2K84 1358 Welwyn - Moorgate.
All 25 717 units have been delivered to the United Kingdom, although a number are in warm storage throughout the network
EDIT: My handling has been cancelled for today.

DfT has published updated Thameslink, Southern, Great Northern franchise agreement today 11 Feb 2019 It appears the changes are to rolling stock specified in schedule 1.7 per the change notice, however Mr failing Grayling as Secretary of State has decided to redact the info which gives the fleet details and dates of introduction etc (eg the new 717s etc). Whilst redacting price is logical for commercial reasons, not even saying how many seats are required etc does seem to suggest Grayling doesn’t care about passengers at all. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/777942/tsgn-franchise-agreement.pdf

If you withhold the train fleet size and capacity then in theory no one can compare reality against contracted intent. It's completely ludicrous, of course, but then this is Failing "I don't run the railways" Grayling.

Oyster PAYG has now reached Epsom as of 25 Feb 2019. Sadly there is no info on the TfL Single Fare Finder or brfares.com as to what the fares and daily / weekly caps actually are. The TfL single fares finder says PAYG will extend to Hertford North from "mid March".

Thats good, Epsom was one of two stations I occassionaly use that were just outside the PAYG zone ... 1 or 2 times tapped in, then either had to get out and tap out and buy a 2nd ticket, or claim ignorance the other end if you realised too late. Thankfully I used my mobile, that shows I tapped in.

An enquiry has been launched by Southern and BTP as assualt Why is the world turning into this absolute clusterf**k! The two members of staff have been suspended. Having worked on stations before becoming a trainee and working at Finsbury Park an area notorious for homeless and drugs; I personally condone that two members of staff have taken these unjust actions amongst themselves. The company have sent out an email reminding us of the company policy and our conduct. I acknowledge that their are two sides to every story but their actions where unjust. I don't like to see anybody out of a job but by bringing the company into disrepute, I don't think any union backing may save them. But it's a reminder that those working in public facing roles are always under surveillance, which is similar to an incident a fortnight ago where a driver on the GN was stopped out of course and breathalysed on the platform by the local police force. Staying with the Great Northern route, Their is a planned move for some 717's to move to West Worthing from Hornsey EMUD late tonight, but the Special Traffic notice states that this move is booked FFSuX. It's booked to run as 5J17. As a result of this whilst the 717's are readied for passenger service, some Trainees awaiting Driving Instructors have to sign 313's. I'm apparently the last one to sign 313's and now have my rescheduled final handling to deem me competent tomorrow. Again, I don't know if any of our photographers will be up early tomorrow. But, I Will be driving. 2F37 0910 Moorgate - Stevenage Via Hertford - I take over from FPK 2J59 1028 Stevenage Via Hertford to Moorgate 2V61 1150 Moorgate - Welwyn GC Then the rest tbc.

The Thameslink trains are the most uncomfortable ive ever known. Poor leg room. And can't help but feel claustrophobic. The seat backs are too high. Really horrible trains.

The Thameslink trains are the most uncomfortable ive ever known. Poor leg room. And can't help but feel claustrophobic. The seat backs are too high. Really horrible trains. Was having a discussing with a colleague earlier on about the 700's, the seats are not aligned with the windows in most cases. I must admit the seats could do with a bit more padding, on par with what we get in the driving cabs. From a driving perspective, once you set up the driving machine interface (DMI), it removes the need to manually set up the GSM-R. Once it gets going, it's very quick off the mark. A little slow regaining line light when going through neutral sections. But the Combined Power brake controller (CPBC) reminds me of a joystick and it gets boring when on a non-stop service as opposed to the 313's where a lot more manual involvement is present, as a result despite their age I prefer driving the 313's as they're a proper train. Moreover, 717025 moved from Hornsey to West Worthing Sidings for storage overnight Monday, early hours of Tuesday morning. West Worthing sidings is infamous where last year a Full length unit was tagged from solebar to cant rail spreadover a few carriages.
