Looks like there is a Crossrail publicity effort today with the embargo coming off at midnight. It gives the first artists impressions of the exterior and interiors of the new Class 345 trains. There will be a mixed seating layout as per S Stock. Mayorwatch articleThere is also a Youtube video. EDIT - also some larger and other images on London Reconnections

1980's LT moquette, albeit with different colours, is being used just like on the Overground. Nice to know that but just a shame it's not the actual colours from 1980's LT moquette lol.

Surprised the front was allowed to be that dark, especially seeing as it's running on Network Rail tracks. I don't like the grey interior find it quite dull/ dark. I hope those doors open quickly, because plug doors on Bombardiar trains tend to open slowly. Also would the doors without the button being pressed only in the central section?
EDIT: Also I know it a metro service but I think there should of been toilets on the train, or at least at every station.

There's apparently a change to policy meaning trains don't need yellow ends if the headlights are bright enough. Apparently the new 345s meet this so won't be yellow. I expect door opening will be very quick otherwise dwell times will go to pot. No point having three doors per car if the doors move at geriatric speed. It seems doors will auto open in the central area but will require a button press in the "suburbs" (wherever they are in the context of Crossrail).

I do like the interior layout - can only assume the transverse seating will be in high demand Hopefully the doors will open quickly like the Networkers. (Odd then, that the Cl700s and Hitachis have sliding doors)

I understand the first crossrail trains will enter public service in May 2017 on Liverpool St - Shenfield However they will initially be 7 cars, these trains will get their extra 2 cars in 2019 The crossrail carriages are 22-23m each so 8 (as per class 315) would be too long for the high numbered platforms at Liverpool St
The first 9 car versions will be on services in the west.

The front of the 345s kind of look like something from Alien Vs Predator... Maybe it's just me The outside looks much nicer than the inside in those pictures. Not too sure about two things: 1) the yellowish lighting that is used on S stock seemed to have reached the Aventra family. 2) the peachy looking moquette is not as nice as the purple one in the graphic images (maybe it is purple but the lighting has changed the colour) I'm sure they'll eventually fit hand straps on those considerably high bars. Nonetheless Exciting stuff!

Nonetheless Exciting stuff! A couple of comments. The moquette design is not the final one. It's fitted with that current one so the train's weight is representative during testing. The interior of the train is clearly not fully finished nor were all the lights and info screens switched. Furthermore photography inside a building will rarely be wholly representative of what you'd see in better daylight conditions.

Could be me but the front of the train from a head on position looks strikingly similar to the famous record breaking Mallard.
