Dammit jay38a ,you beat me to it by a matter of seconds!! The "new" 509 shuttle between the Village and Caterham Station running between those hours is pointless because I used to see nobody on the passing 509's around that time. However, it would be an ideal service for 6344 to run, it being the Caterham Villager. It doesn't say anything about Southdown winning the contract but it would be a massive shame that Metrobus isn't operating this. Also, the 357, 409 and 509's contract are now merged so this kinda points towards Southdown operating the three routes past September. However, it does mention something about the 400 in the 409's bit, which I presume Metrobus will continue to operate. I also think the 357 would be little used into Selsdon, like the 409. The redundant MPD's with the loss of the 409 (6287-6289/6344) could move to new route 21, which Metrobus are operating. However, if Metrobus have lost the 409, then 6344 would most likely be withdrawn, it being 16 years old in September.

Had it confirmed today yes Metrobus has lost the 409 to Southdown PSV, who have also retained the 236 and 509. The will be a regiggle which will allocate MPDs to the 21 and 22. The mentioning of the 400 in the 409s bit is only to say an half hourly service will continue between Caterham and Godstone using those two routes. The 400 is commercial so has nothing to do with Surrey CC.

The 400 is commercial so has nothing to do with Surrey CC. Only thing happening to the 400 later in the autumn is that is is going to double deck operation - buses from B&H will be transferring over.
