TfL has launched a consultation today to make minor changes to the 145 in the Dagenham area 145 consultation page -source: TfL consultation page I like this proposal. I think it could be very beneficial in the long term for Dagenham. Messing the Merrylands Retail Park stop is my only concern. Consultation closes Thursday 10 March 2016

This extension, though short, looks really helpful!

Interesting proposal. Tiny shame that there doesn't quite seem enough space for buses to actually loop round by Dagenham Dock station itself. There is a looped road but too many parking spaces for a decker to get round. Given there is currently a bit of surplus land in the area it's a shame that a better interchange isn't being proposed while there's an opportunity to create it. The run time would be marginal. Given how "stark" that area is I'm not sure I'd really want to be walking from the station and then standing on a bleak road for a bus northwards. Also interesting that the bus stop bays at the top of Chequers Lane already exist and are marked out. I suspect, though, they don't been accessibility standards!

It would still serve Merrilands Retail Park but would serve the stop to the other side of Homebase, the rest of the retail park is still pretty accessible. Interestingly, it's similar to the way the 148 used to get to Dagenham Asda all those years ago (feeling old knowing the 148 was withdraw 22 years go- cripes!)
As Mr Snoggle says, shame it doesn't reach all the way down to Dagenham Dock Station- maybe with all the planned regeneration the area will get some better street lighting

Good ideas. Even if it did terminate at the station, the turn around point will be too tight anyway. Its a shame because it could be and still could be a good commuter route to reach Dagenham Dock Station. However, years ago, seeing old maps loads of routes used to go down to the station. Its always really nice to see changes like this.

So the route returns to the original routeing, albeit partially. Can't remember the exact date but around 2008/2009 route 145 was rerouted from Chequers Lane and Merrielands Crescent to better serve the Retail Park. It's interesting how there's no bus link from Dagenham town centre (Heathway) to the severely underused bus station at Dagenham Dock. Better travel options for workers in the industrial area and a new bus route will see Go Ahead end their known practice of having a 'pop up garage'.

Grief the old consultation and press release machine at TfL has been going at hyper speed this week. A veritable blizzard of conclusions and statements. Interesting that this one is being implemented in April during the purdah period while the Hounslow stuff happens afterwards.

Interesting that this one is being implemented in April during the purdah period while the Hounslow stuff happens afterwards. Well I'm sure TfL want to have the change in conjunction with the contract date at the end of April and nothing more...lool. Extra buses were agreed as part of the contract sharing a batch of E400 MMCs with route 62 far before the consultation arose, so I imagine even a certain political activity won't halt a fairly easy change. Come to think of it, I imagine he would pay a visit to the Dagenham area for one last PR stunt. Be it the 'major development' at the old Stamping Plant or Barking Riverside to outline his mayoral lega...*pitch forks rise to the air* I mean track record! But that's just a thought loool.

Because traffic jams are all that matter and not the convenience of bus passengers. I assume she never uses the buses because TfL did actually advertise this consultation at bus stops served by the 145.

I wouldn't mind seeing a proper picture at what they are actually moaning at. Then I can put a proper opinion on it. There is an example of this on Palmerston Road in Walthamstow, where the Walthamstow Market / High Street bus stop is directly aligned with one another in both directions, and people have tolerated this for years. Mind you, Waltham Forest has done up the pavement more nearer to the market featuring a sort of bus stop by-pass from where there used to be a wall and some grass, as part of the Mini-Holland scheme, suggesting they are moving this bus stop to here towards Walthamstow Central. It's been like this for months but there have been no changes yet. But the result looks quite positive for bus stop facilities.

I must head down to Palmerston Road and see what the road looks like as i remember from the plans a very narrow pavement that was going to be created.

So far, they have started work between the High Street and Mission Grove, and you showing me this document has made me understand the changes here better, as they look a bit odd at the ends of changes, however, I think you might find the road is not as narrow as it looks on there.
