I went along East India Dock Road earlier, is it me or the D8 might find it difficult to turn from Bazely Street onto East India Dock Road towards Stratford on its new routing? What worries me is the traffic towards the tunnel on that section its a nightmare during the evening peak I dread to think how the D8 will cope as it turns out of Bazley street - The 115 has a hard time getting into the third lane (A13) near Bazley Street. Agree with what you are saying. It looks pretty much impossible when I just looked on Google Maps and saw the traffic. If I realised while the consultation was active, I would of noted it down on the feedback form. A bunch of people might have done it already.

I received an email from TfL a moment ago, with some amendments:
- 135 to run via Spindrift Avenue - D7 to retain existing frequency - double decks on the D8
Changes will implemented on the following dates:
- Routes 135, 277 and D3 from 17 September - Routes 108 and D8 from 1 October 2016

In regards to the D8, you've read my mind When I'll get some time later, I'll jot down some wild speculation (or my own thoughts of where these vehicles will go) in terms of Go-Ahead's redundant complient vehicles

Am disappointed with the 108 changes. When the Jubilee line plays up (a regular occurrence), the direct link to the H&C & District lines at Bromley-by-Bow is much appreciated. With these changes, that link to a nearby Underground station is lost.
At the same time, it may mean the 108 misses out on heavy traffic on the Northern Tunnel Approach???

My top 3 comments:
1) Adapt 108 to carry cycles - Hmmm, good idea, we can dig up all the segregated cycles lanes and just adapt buses. You can then just sit on your cycle on the bus, saving a seat, as well.
2) Double decks cause buildings to shake - Wait till the triple decks come on route 25!. In all seriousness, this resident must have just seen a red and black, steamy hot, noisy thing, and thinks its a volcanic eruption. Its not dear, its just a NRM on route 15.
3) Forced to relocate - We need more details about this, maybe the person is relocating to a house nearby to continue to catch the 108 and refuses to live near routes with letters? Hate crime is through the roof nowadays. The poor person at TfL who had to read this comment and make the critical decision about the life changing decision.... Unsurprisingly they did not care.

What I find striking from the consultation responses is how badly TfL misjudged their proposals on the Isle of Dogs. The issues around the D3 are very cogently explained by those who responded and clearly TfL felt they had no option to reroute the 135. However if you read the response from Tower Hamlets Council they basically trash the whole package apart from the use of more double deckers. I do wonder what, if any, preparatory work TfL did with local politicians and obvious stakeholders before releasing this package. I still think there is a whole pile of mistakes and errors in this set of plans. Even one of the key justifications for the D8 / 108 swap over - to serve a new school - is trashed by Tower Hamlets Council. It's also interesting that locals feel as if the services they have don't really work, don't meet actual travel needs and are not in tune with developments nearing completion plus those due to complete over the next few years.

I appreciate that route 108 is to be served by longer single deckers, but I still think a slight frequency increase would help route 108 during peak times.

Only visit IoD occasionally so no thoughts generally but one thing that seemed really daft was the fact that these routeings were made in expectation of increased user numbers with the developments going on and yet they intended to decrease the frequency of D7. D'uh.

With these changes, that link to a nearby Underground station is lost. At the same time, it may mean the 108 misses out on heavy traffic on the Northern Tunnel Approach??? It will miss out on traffic on the approach but at the bottleneck to the tunnel, no vehicle is spared from the traffic. I just don't get this tinker when it's not of much benefit to anyone. Tower Hamlets said the D8 running via the A12 is to better serve school kids in particular so they have a better connection to the Isle of Dogs area, but they remain critical (school kids and motorways don't mix). There will also be a defunct bus gate purposely built for the 108 on the southern approach that both the D8 and 108 can't use; the latter will use a different approach to the Blackwall Tunnel bus stop. And to top it all off, the 108 will be given 12 metre buses to navigate Campbell Road & the lead up to Crisp Street when the D8 was awarded* with shorter buses than usual for the precise reason I just raised. The only positive I can see from this change is that the Devons Road area will get a 24 hour bus. But even that is no just cause for these changes in my book. *17th September 2011 when Docklands Buses won the 276, D6 and D8; both former ro utes bar the D8 allocation were awarded 10.8m buses. These buses rarely stray onto the D8. Judging by my recent D8 journey (with its normal 10.2 metre buses) and the driver having a hard time moving past parked cars & traffic; I patiently wait to see this carnage unfold.
