Looks like Go North East are at long last putting some decent vehicles on the very long standing Newcastle - Bishop Auckland service. GNE took it over from OK Travel when they bought them out because OK had overstretched themselves in the 1990s. I used the OK quite a lot when we used to visit grandparents in Bishop Auckland so have fond memories of this route. The ex London early PVLs branded for the Pronto X21 service are being replaced with brand new Volvo (?) / Gemini 3 double decks to a top luxury spec like the new buses on Transdev's 36 servce. The route will also be relaunched as the Castle express reflecting Durham Castle and the Bishops Castle at Bishop Auckland. www.simplygo.com/all-services/the-castles-express

Seems the new buses are Wright Streetdecks. Be interesting to see how they cope with the climbs out of Bishop Auckland and Durham.

First West Yorkshire's ones have the uprated engine and Kickdown usage, they are buying tons of them So long as they dont fit them with tables like Brighton's ones they should be just fine

I think the First ones are in South Yorkshire on route X78 from Sheffield to Doncaster.
I pity people who sit downstairs on the Go North East StreetDecks if they can't see clearly out of the offside windows with all that insignia.

As much as I really hate to admit it, that new face Gemini is really starting to grow on me

As much as I really hate to admit it, that new face Gemini is really starting to grow on me Well can't say that's unexpected It's only a matter of time for something that doesn't conform to 'the norm' to grow more fond of it, generally speaking.
