Looks like 20 March 2016 is the key cut off date for a very large number of open TfL consultations. I wonder if we will see much more emerging until mid May from now on.

When is the elections? The new things about buses such as tender results and consultations are not really coming about because of the purdah period and it quite boring. (I'm not saying that this is really important but I am just wondering)

The mayoral elections are 5th May. Whoever wins there will be a finite time before things start to change, so don't expect any instant policy updates.

Agreed - it all depends on who wins and how "radical" they wish to be. The TfL Board will almost certainly be changed and may even be completely sacked depending on who wins. There may also be demands for changes to governance (meetings, panels etc) and it may even be the case that senior people are sacked. It is noteworthy that two senior LU people have opted to go before the election. The other factor is how prepared the new Mayor is and what team they will bring (if any). Ken Livingstone, having run the GLC, knew he had to get going very quickly and set up the new administration pretty quickly. Boris Johnson apparently turned down an offer from Ken to keep his team in place for a short period to maintain continuity. Boris decided to do it "his way" and it took many months and several false starts before a full team was put in place. The one key appointment will be whoever the Deputy Mayor for Transport is (assuming one is appointed). Isabel Dedring has gone so there is a vacancy and that's one appointment I'm waiting to see as Ms Dedring was very capable. There will, no doubt, be some sort of "immediate" headline change brought in very quickly to try to demonstrate "action" from the new Mayoralty. Boris brought in the "no alcohol" ban as his headline early change (and which is routinely ignored by people and not enforced so was pretty much a waste of time).

I wasn't really talking about policy updates and big changes, I was more talking about the changes we have now. I never realised how close we was to the elections, it is going to feel very weird not having Boris on the frontline; I only just about remember Livingstone.

I wish we only 4 days rather than 4-5 weeks. I'm sick to death of the two main protagonists already. The dull "oh look Mummy I'm better than the other one" campaign tone and lack of genuine debate is beyond depressing.

That should sort it out... Oops, that was a disaster waiting to happen!

Sadly politics is becoming almost as bad as how our cousins across the Pond do things, but at this stage, it's a much more diluted, "reduced sugar" affair, where they just say who is better than the other. I don't know much about Goldsmith, he seems a little more disconnected from Joe Public than Mr Khan so we'll have to see the outcome. Think of this election more as a 2 year contract extension on a very predictable bus route with average vehicles. It's not going to be something new and exciting

You'll probably only understand the humour if your Irish of which I'm part - decent show but one I don't really watch regularly.

Yes, but it was a bit of a joke, at wrong time, wrong place but also, it conincidentally had part of my username in, so it had a tad bit of advice aswell

I can't remember where the accusation came from, one of the Labour GLA members I believe, suggesting that London takes purdah far too seriously and gives over an obscene amount of time to it, so the entire bureaucracy can have eight weeks with their feet up, sipping tea claiming a supposed inability to do anything.

I think it was Murad Qureshi who was recently critical of the London's interpretation of "purdah". One of the problems is the restriction on use of facilities and staff when the AMs are still effectively in office and have queries etc to answer. muradqureshi.com/purdah-gone-mad-at-gla/I've got queries outstanding from Jennette Arnold's office but the chap dealing with them has left and who knows what the handover arrangements were (if any) nor what happens if she is not re-elected.

Thank you for the interesting document as I understand the term Purdah so much better now. It reminds of school; last month of the year, you do sod all.

Its all about being lazy and helping the next lazy on the frontline (Next mayor).
