In the #AskDLR twitter session yesterday an interesting question was asked double tracking of the Stratford Branch (Bow - Stratford) The plan has been shelved for the foreseeable future because there is no money to do anything on the DLR of any substance. The new trains are supposed to be a PFI - paying on the "never never" rather than having the capital funds to pay outright.

Pie in the sky stuff. I think Greenwich council are confusing a fantasy route extension post with a serious election manifesto pledge.

Thamesmead : possibly, Abbey Wood : slightly less possibly, Belvedere : unlikely, Eltham/Falconwood : hahahahahaha! Calling it pie-in-the-sky is a bit unfair. The area faces significant population growth with the development of several thousands of new homes, and the Council is right to be considering how future transport demand (as well as other demands for services in the area) are going to be met. This may or may not be with an extension to the DLR. It is one of the big weaknesses of Thamesmead that it did not get a rail link when the original plans for the Fleet Line were shelved.

Pie in the sky stuff. I think Greenwich council are confusing a fantasy route extension post with a serious election manifesto pledge. Both Greenwich and Bromley boroughs have form for outlandish DLR extensions. Greenwich also want to "hi-jack" the Bakerloo Line extension and send it to Charlton and North Greenwich instead of it serving Lewisham. I can imagine that's gone down well with Lewisham Council.

It's pre-election cobblers to be blunt. Local councils always come over all crayonista at this stage of the cycle (see Sutton's recent blatherings). I refer you to John Bull's Twitter thread on local council transport demands and how they are seldom rooted in the realities of planning a London-wide transport network.

Huh, neat topic, just gonna put in my take:
DLR extensions:
1) Extension to Dagenham Dock:
Stops:
- Gallions Reach (closed for some time to create new platforms)
- East Beckton (Bulit on Eric Clarke Lane, near Royal Docks Road, underground station)
- Creekmouth (After doing a u-turn between East Beckton and Creekmouth, situated on River Road or Long Reach Road, underground station)
- Barking Riverside (Same building as Overground Station, but underground instead of the viaduct)
- Goresbrook (Situated on Choats Road, on the west side of the Gores, viaduct station)
- Dagenham Dock (The Route will terminate on the north side of Chequers Lane via viaduct with new platforms and links to the c2c Station)
The route will have services to Tower Gateway and Stratford International in the off peak (Tower Gateway trains 4tph) (Stratford International trains 2tph) Total 6 trains per hour (1 train per 10 mins) 1 train taken from Beckton service
2) Extension to Thamesmead via Overground
Barking Riverside: Interchange with the DLR and built underground instead or viaduct made to cross the Thames via bridge.
Thamesmead: New underground station on Carlyle Road/Bentham Road/Crossway, new local station.
Abbey Wood: New underground platforms and perpendicular to other lines.
Bexleyheath: New platforms built and terminating station. Besides, it’s still called the GOBLIN line

The extension works at Beckton depot for the new stock arriving in a few years have been designed to give space for potential extensions to Thamesmead and Dagenham Dock.

A DLR extension to Thamesmead is likely to appear in TfL's submission to the current Government Comprehensive Spending Review. The Government already has funding available for transport enhancements that support new housebuilding.

Beckton to Bank alongside a Thamesmead to Stratford International service would be very nice indeed. Those timelines look optimistic though.

At present, there isn't the capacity to add more trains between Royal Mint Street junction and Bank in the peaks.
