This year just gets worse - another legend has sadly passed. Loved Purple Rain, The Most Beautiful Girl in the World, Kiss & When Doves Cry Fine live act, was Prince. He had a long residency at the O2 some years ago, and I watched one of those gigs. Because I'm old, I remember 1999 and Purple Rain when new, and both albums, particularly the latter, were game changers. Give him the best tribute you can : download Purple Rain if you haven't already, and listen to track 1 - Let's Go Crazy. Top tune. R.I.P.

This year just gets worse - another legend has sadly passed. Loved Purple Rain, The Most Beautiful Girl in the World, Kiss & When Doves Cry It's ridiculous. If this year carries on as it has started half the world will be in a box come the end of December. So much talent consigned to the history books and many at a young age. I can only imagine who utterly sad a former work collegue, Diane, will be. She was just about the biggest Prince fan in the world and I suspect she won't have stopped crying at today's news. We often used to have "Prince conversations" at work although she knew far more about him and his music than I ever did. I've long loved his music and have a fair few of his albums. Loved 1999, Little Red Corvette, Raspberry Beret, Diamonds and Pearls, Cream, Gett Off, Sign o' the Times, Let's go Crazy, I would for 4 U, My name is Prince, Batdance, Kiss, Girls and Boys, Sometimes it snows in April. The list goes on. And we can, of course, add songs he wrote for other people - Manic Monday by the Bangles, I feel for you by Chaka Kahn and Nothing compares 2 U by Skinhead O'Connor. Girls and BoysU got the look - Prince and Sheena Easton Yep he even made Sheena Easton sound good. Oh and Virgin Media - s*d off with your "play Chaka Kahn over VM broadband and get an instant sh*g" adverts. I've been feeling sad all day because there was a Kenny Everett - The Interviews show last night and he's another fantastic talent that went far too early. Then you add on Victoria Wood and now Prince and it's a load of old crap really. Can't some horrible people shuttle off the mortal coil instead?

Lemmy from Motorhead, David Bowie and now Prince. There must be one hell of a gig being planned when you consider Freddie Mercury is already gone.
All I will say and I keep saying it is how the hell has Ozzy survived this long!!!
Just absolute shock with 2016

For those who might be interested it looks like the various MTV music channels have a rolling Prince tribute show. Oh and this Facebook link is lovely. Now where's the box of tissues.

I can't actually believe he wrote that you've just said. That's songs brings back some of my holiday memories of 2015. Anyway, sad he passed all of a sudden. He made some good music (better than David Bowie!) Some of my favourite songs by him, Most Beautiful Girl In The World & When Doves Cry. For some reason though, ages ago, I struggled to find When Doves Cry on YouTube. Someone probably decide to put it on there now everyone's giving him the tributes.

Prince was known for maintaining very tight control of his music and videos. I think this is why so little of his work is on Youtube. If he refused to license his videos on Youtube then they shouldn't be on there. The video of "Gett Off" had only been loaded after his death and I expect it will disappear in due course when Youtube work through what has to be removed. Everyone is speculating that all the zillions of songs he recorded but never released will suddenly appear but I believe the only person who could release his music was him (it was mentioned on the news). I'd be amazed if he left a will that authorised someone else to exploit his work for financial gain (and that's what we're talking about in all this).

That's a shame, why can't that me justin bieber that does something like that! Just have to rely on my brain and radio to listen to this music.

I Feel for You is such an excellent song and I never knew he wrote that for Chaka Kahn. It's one of those songs that personally actually dates quite well. The video for When Doves Cry was up about 2 years ago as I used to play it on repeat constantly for a period.
