I still try and to use the countdown website. Even now, the responsiveness of the website is still terrible. Overall, it's not exactly any better from its initial release and I fail to see any improvements.

I gave up on the countdown website when they made the updates. It didn't work on my old phone and even on my brand new top spec smartphone my favourite bus stops kept getting wiped. It was very cumbersome to use too. Instead I use a "Public Transport Nearby" home screen notification that shows nearest bus stop and next buses. It's powered by google maps, so it doesn't always show the destination as per the blind (e.g. a bus to Queen Elizabeth Hospital will show as "Charlton"), but the timings are very accurate and buses don't disappear on me. For more detail I now use LVF (thanks to this forum), but even LVF doesn't capture short workings.

What you have to do with the TfL site is a) select the stop and favourite it b) then also favourite (star) the route or routes you want displayed then it should work. This is actually not much different from the old Countdown page as that allowed you to filter routes but this time you have to pre-select the filtered routes before the favourite is saved. I agree that the site is not exactly wonderful and I suspect the promised development of a "lighter" site has been quietly scrapped as part of spending cuts. The recent security change on the TfL site rendered it completly inaccessible on my old phone. I've had to fork out a small fortune for a new phone. Perhaps I should send TfL the bill?

Out of curiosity what phone did you get in the end? Shockingly for me I have bought something "up to the minute" [1] - the new Motorola / Lenovo Moto G5. I've also opted for BT Mobile with a small monthly charge which gives me some call / data allowance rather than pure PAYG. My old Virgin PAYG tariff was v poor VFM. I get a discount on BT Mobile as I have phone / broadband from them. Have to say I'm very impressed with the G5 - not laden with pre-loaded nonsense and so easy to port everything across from my old phone. Easy to use and no great problems with any aspect of it. I can even read Proboards on it as the phone has the Chrome browser. [1] I usually buy new technology kit as it is being superseded.

If anyone wants to use the digisign api (screens at bus stations) ive found out how to access the Crystal Palace one(works on mobile if screen orientation is portrait) countdown.digisign.tfl.gov.uk/sign/1228/uskbi I assume if you change the 4 digit number the location will change
