I did not know that routemasters run on rail replacement duty until only a few weeks ago! The routemaster that I got onto was LTZ1343 and is one of a few to actually have the engine FULLY shut down, but as you can see in the video below, the engine was triggered on perhaps by the increasing speed of the bus! Abellio also use LTs on Tower Hill to Barking - they need a special dispensation for route approval.

They're amazing buses to drive most of the time - recently I've seen loads of NRMs going FULLY into electric mode as this should be. Have they done anything to achieve this, because even after the battery replacement, the majority of the NRMs (new especially) weren't shutting down fully when going into 'electric mode'. Hope they go over Bow Flyover and not under, as I demonstrated in the video! It really annoyed me.
