The 194 and 198 also stop in Dingwall Road but the 119 and 466 will indeed have no stop between Park Lane and Lebanon Road which is bound to catch a few people out, drivers will need to use the 'next bus stop is closed' message at Park Lane.

I put info about this, including a TfL tweet and map, in the General Discussion and Ranting thread a few days ago.

What are they actually doing to the bus station at East Croydon. When I went past last week, all they were doing were digging up the tarmac. Is there anything new going to be implemented.

Work seems to be proceeding at a very leisurely pace, just how long does a bit of resurfacing take?

I'd guess that the contractors have found the ground underneath the surface has been pummelled to death or utilities have been damaged thus requiring extra work. I don't think any resurfacing work at a TfL bus station has ever been completed on time.

Seeing reports on Twitter that the bus station at East Croydon has reopened today. Finally, the end of the division that wasn't a division 😁 On a serious note I have passed the Station every Friday and the only improvement I see is the road/payment being replaced, the bus shelters are the same but with new seats I believe. I don't get why they didn't do one bus stop at a time then buses could still serve East Croydon at the other two bus stops. There is probably some reason why that I've not seen as I'm no engineer but that's my view.

They probably sealed it all off to give a clear and safe working environment for those doing the repair works. I doubt a mixed operation would pass muster in terms of a risk assessment and it's unlikely to have been cheaper. I understand the passenger inconvenience point but TfL rarely partially open bus stations, especially small ones, when carriageway works are being done.

To quote an article from Your Croydon (Croydon Council's news blog thing) "New shelters and signposts, better lighting, new public seating, improved pedestrian access and tree planting are among the improvements made to the bus station on Addiscombe Road, which dated back to the late 1990s". I don't personally see anything other than the road surface and the seats either

Worker and commuter safety is the only thing I can think of but for what they have done it's still pointless in my opinion, I don't see redoing the road surface taking more than one night per bus stop, as croydonguy said other than the road/pavement and new seats the Station is the same.

I think the old surface was with those small blocks. They are notorious for being completely wrecked after a few years of buses driving over them / stopping in the same place. The problem is that the foundations underneath them also get hammered. If there are any services under that they run the risk of damage too. Therefore what you imagine was a simple job probably wasn't and you can't dig up a road properly and fully reinstate it, including new or repaired services, in a night. Whether it takes months is a perfectly valid point but beware the illusion of a "oh it's such a small and simple job". It almost certainly wasn't once they dug stuff up and took a look. As I have posted before I've yet to see works on a TfL bus station run completely to time and to start on the right date and complete when originally anticipated.
