I have noticed over the past or so, that many of the 92 stock on the Central line makes a strange humming sound on acceleration and deceleration. Not sure what it is.

I believe the stock were due some sort of modification/refurbishment with their motors. Does it sound anything like one of the other stock on the underground?

No, it doesn't sound like the other Underground stock. There have been traction card and gearbox bearing changes but the major motor replacement work has not yet been granted funding. Due next month - unless it's been cut. The paper below gives some background and what's planned for the future (money permitting). content.tfl.gov.uk/board-20160719-item12-part1-central-line.pdf

As far as I'm aware, they've always been like that - must be just the type of motor it uses. Personally, that's what makes them my favourite tube stock ever even if they are ovens on wheels

Personally I really dislike the 92 stock trains. The really faint interior lights, really large windows and seats that aren't even in line probably are the main reasons for me not liking them at all. I was at Westfield Shepherd's Bush on Wednesday and while on the way, we had left Notting Hill Gate station but the door alarm continued to go on until Holland Park. This especially didn't help as I don't even like the door alarm sounds on the 1992TS anyway I suppose I don't mind the humming sound though, but that noise followed by the high pitched fuzzing noise does make the 1992 stock sound a but like a washing machine IMO

I think I know the sound you're talking about. It's like a deep hum that harmonizes with the actual sound of the stock's motors and it can be clearly heard when decelerating and accelerating. I don't recall hearing it with the 92 stock however I find the sound more prominent with the 95s and 96s, it's been happening more with the latter lately.

When they came out, they were very futuristic, especially compared to the outgoing 62 stock. The interior lights are more than bright enough imo ad I really love the large windows, I hate the northern/Jubilee line trains with small windows which I think is a step back.

I never really minded the Jubilee stock as they were/are quite well looked after but the Northern Line stock before refurb were awful. Since the refurb however, I don't dislike them as much - my dislike gets directed to any remaining D stock & the 1973 stock on the Piccadilly Line. My favourite stock before I'd used the 1992 stock was the 67 stock - everything about them just seemed so right including the 60's interior styling even if it was well out of fashion by time the 90's came along

(PS I like driving the D's more comfortable )
