The Gemini 3 is a good design and it's been proven in its orders. While some may argue it's not as great looking as the MMC, it's far superior in quality and I'm not sure how a pilar becomes a design fault. Nobody would build a car with pillars like that so why should it be anymore acceptable on a bus? What else would you call it other than an obvious design fault? It is part of a design ... you may not like the design, but can not see how you are in any position to call it a design fault

How do you compare the construction of a car to a bus as buses are built in a modular fashion with rivets so there are limitations to their construction.

Well obviously not, but a bus is a form of rapid metro transit which isn't designed for comfort more just moving people around safely and quickly. That's what coaches are for.

No other bus has such ridiculously large pillars at the front. Even some later Gemini 3's have a glass section.

BMW did with the 5GT try looking out the back window when parking it Gotten quite used to the design now, looking forward to the batches coming to the 242 and 259

Some how, rapid and quickly don't go with buses in London. More like slow and leisurely

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I saw one of these VH's in service yesterday on a 267 and it stopped me dead in my tracks with its ugliness. I don't think you could say it's a design flaw because clearly the bus is functional, but geee that bus is hideous. The frog face comments are funny - that's exactly what it looks like. Froggy McFrogface. The front reminds me of a bit like when a kid decides to build something out of lego and has to improvise with whatever random parts they have in their set. In this case some lego bits for a Myllennium Vyking combined with some big red duplo bricks for the pillars. This has to be the ugliest bus in the history of London. I heard that if you look in the mirror and whisper "Streetdeck" 3 times, one will turn up on your local route....

Not to mention some of those Atlantean and Fleetline bodies in the 70's - No the crown goes to those ugly as 4k Volvo Ailsa's; what an abomination.

No joke, I was sat here for the last 5 minutes thinking "4K Volvo Ailsa...never heard of that before?? Must be something from the early 70's". I even tried to google up a pic 😂 I rode a few Ailsa's while they were in service with Harrow buses. They were ugly and uncomfortable and if I remember they had a really crap internal configuration with seats facing each other. Still not as ugly as Ugly McUglybus aka Wright Streetdeck, but rear design on some Ailsa's are very weird. I quite like the Atlanteans...and the Daimler Fleetline is an all time classic. As a kid, I would always take a DMS on route 92 if faced with a choice of bus. On a head to head, I reckon the Wright Uglydeck beats DMS1 in the abomination stakes: flic.kr/p/GUmNmD

When you compare them to VH24-52 at Hounslow Heath it makes you wonder who signed the new design off
