tfl.gov.uk/campaign/tube-strike?intcmp=35779
Timings and impact
On Wednesday 25 January, last trains on the Central and Waterloo & City lines will finish around an hour earlier than usual.
On Thursday 26 January there is likely to be: •No service on the Waterloo & City line •No service between Leytonstone and Epping / Woodford •Less frequent trains on the rest of the Central line
All other services will be running normally but are likely to be much busier than usual. We expect these stations and lines to be particularly busy: •Leytonstone, Leyton, Stratford, Mile End, Liverpool Street, Oxford Circus, Waterloo, Tottenham Court Road, Holborn, Bank, Monument, London Bridge, Embankment, North Ealing and Ealing Common stations •The Victoria line and stations along it, especially Walthamstow Central •The Jubilee line between London Bridge and Waterloo •TfL Rail services between Romford and Stratford, and particularly Ilford station •London Overground lines and stations between Liverpool Street and Chingford
You may have to queue outside certain stations at peak times and it will take longer than usual to board a train.

Ughhhh Another strike. What are they striking for this time? I think it's an issue with staff rosters where drivers have been shunted (sorry!) back and forth between depots on the Central Line for months and months. Some drivers have ended up miles and miles away from their home locations despite having been at a reasonably close depot at the start of the process. It looks like a complete cock-up to me.

I see the Evevning Standard has dusted off the story of the government legislation to block industrial action by the unions.

We all know the rail unions take a battering from Joe Public and the press, but reading this thread and those on other web pages, I ask myself " Do the powers that be not realise that it's not always the workers?" When I was a senior manager I was told by an old hand that "With power comes responsibility" If you've got train crews based at White City and no doubt they probably live and have lived locally for years, why would you base them at Hainult? Maybe the faceless ones should be held to account?

Maybe the faceless ones should be held to account? I think there is another issue here. Even if you accept the unions at LU are a bit bolshy we never used to get quite this scale of disruption. The threat level was always high but there was an apparent willingness to get to a solution. I'm left wondering if far too many "old hands" have been let go and their accumulated knowledge and experience / relationships have been lost. Thankfully I never had too much to do with the trade unions but those who dealt with them regularly clearly had developed a relationship / rapport that meant there were decent discussions and settlements even allowing for the usual tactical moves.

Sorry but as I said before, these strikes will continue to happen regardless of what government it is and whether they cave in or not and greedy union bosses continue to cash in and as usual, it's Joe Public who are the biggest losers.
