I would be incredibly surprised if the route wasn't cut back to Leatherhead.
But I don't think the section will be left unserved. Metrobus could run its 93 up to Leatherhead to compensate and I think it could be persuaded to try doing so commercially, to boot. It is a busy corridor. Just busy with loss-making passengers for TfL. I don't think a half-hourly service would be retained, though - and Sunday at best would be two-hourly along with the route to the south of Dorking.

Historically London Buses have not run over that section as the 65/71/265 only ran to Leatherhead till 1980 then it was left to Green line 714 before the 465 was introduced in about 1993.

Agreed that I'd be surprised that lovely section beyond Leatherhead remaining although I'd like to see it drop to hourly between Leatherhead & Dorking like the 166's Epsom journey like southlondonbus suggested.

I concur. Leatherhead is a tale of two towns. South area well off. North area is much like the copt gilders estate in Chessington. Its also another example of a town outside London, like Dartford for example, that has a healthy link employment wise within London.

Kingstonian Football Club (of the Ryman League) announced this week that it is leaving its ground at Norbiton to share with Leatherhead next season. So there's a few more Kingston - Leatherhead journeys on the 465!

I was being a little tongue in cheek, although the existence of a direct bus service has been cited as mitigation for what looks like an unpopular move. There will probably be a supporters coach service.

I'm not sure a coach is really needed as it's a fairly straightforward journey by train with a change at Raynes Park.

I think it should be cut to Leatherhead, Dorking is too far out of London for a London bus to serve it anyway. Let a Surrey bus company sort out a new Leatherhead to Dorking connection.

Realistically you're right although it would be a shame for such a scenic section of route to be lost from the TfL network.

Yeah I see what you mean, but I don't think TFL cares about that as harsh as that sounds. I will have to do the route at some point though before it gets cut as it sounds like a nice bus ride.

There's already another link between leatherhead and Dorking (Metrobus's 21) but it's frequency isn't great in comparison to the 465 and not sure how different the routes are.

The 21 (former 516) takes an entirely different (and longer) route between Leatherhead and Dorking, via Box Hill. It doesn't serve Mickelham or Burford Bridge, which would be unserved if the 465 were cut back without replacement.
