Its no secret that the 726 was held in low regard, no doubt LT/TfL would have bumped it off for any semi-plausible excuse had it seemed believable enough. I heard Traffic was a big factor beyond Croyden but its not my neck of the woods so can't comment. Tramlink probably provided a good reason to axe Croyden - Bromley. It would be nice to have the Bromley to Croydon section still though. The 119 isn't very direct, and getting the tram from Beckenham Junction obviously requires a change. To get there you have to get the 162 which takes half an hour, comes every 20 min (and that's in the day) and is always full up. The 162 is every 15 mins daytime now and is timed 18 mins from Bromley South to Beckenham, at night that's down to 11 mins so not as long as you suggested.

The 119 is probably the most direct bus between Croydon & Bromley your going to get though especially if you compare to using the 367 which takes years off your life - I only use to do it over the 119 just for the Esteems being hammered along Sadly, there was local opposition to an extension of Tramlink to Croydon from Beckenham Junction (ironically, Bromley council was actually in favour of an extension) which would of provided a quicker journey to Bromley but alas, everyone can only dream

But there's no need to go to Beckenham Junction at all - surely it's easier to change to a 227 at Beckenham Road?

It's ridiculously easy at Beckenham Road as the bus stop towards Bromley is right next to the entrance to Beckenham Road tram stop.

I suppose I'm just not a fan of packed buses, they make me feel panicky. There is never any breathing space on the 227 🙈

I have found the 314 to Addington Village then the tram as a quick way to get into Croydon from Bromley. There was talk of a feeder service from Bromley to reaplce the 354 back in the late 90s.

I'd try that in the day Mon to Sat however possible half hour wait at night or Sundays at Addington puts me off that way at those times. At night it's just as quick to use the 119 it seems, as you can do it in 40 mins, or after 11pm it's down to under 30 mins.

Bromley worried about nothing, I've met lots of snobby people that choose Bromley over Croydon because it's not as rough.

Of course the opposite could have happened with the tram bringing more people into Bromley Especially as many people seem to prefer to shop in Bromley compared to Croydon for a multitude of reasons.

That is until Westfield emerges from the ashes of the Whitgift Centre.... I've always found Bromley very anti public transport. (Totally strayed off thread subject)

(Totally strayed off thread subject) It's because it's very middle to upper classed, most of the residents have cars. They don't want peasants from rough areas going into their Waitrose.
