I wonder how the 472 could be extended to Abbey Wood? Either it would cease to serve one of Crossway or Bentham Drive, or it would go round in a big loop to get away from Thamesmead Town Centre.
As a frequent user of the 180, I approve of this idea because it would improve the reliability of the service over the remaining part of the route, which is often affected by congestion through Greenwich, especially when the Blackwall Tunnel is playing up. I think the 177 on its own is adequate to cover Charlton - Greenwich. The direct link to North Greenwich tube would be handy too.

A possible solution for the 472 is for it to do the full loop and then head down Carlyle Road to the Boiler House.
