And I got ridiculed for talking about the Stagecoach takeover of Lea Interchange a few weeks back…

There has been a lot of chatter over the last two days that Tower Transit’s Lea Interchange has been sold to Stagecoach with either Leyton or West Ham closing.

18472 & another 184** series Trident have a full set of WOB blinds. 18472 was on the 86 and the unidentified 184** series Trident was on the 175. I'm guessing as these were NS Tridents, these two have received blinds with the 498 on? It was 18466 on the 175.

That's interesting as the 376 batch have occasionally worked the W19 - - I assumed these blinds were the same. According to what I've been told, the blinds have come from SI. I don't know how accurate that is or what is on the blindset but they should eventually appear on the W19.

The buses are for the W19. The WOB blinds were ordered but haven't been delivered and as there are spare sets of old Dayglo blinds they've been fitted until the new ones turn up. The Dayglo sets don't have W19 on them but do have 376 which is why they've been allocated there for a while. Stop the conspiracy!

Some of you will know me. I'm a current 498 driver whose happy to pose for photos! I'm also a former Union Officer at First Dagenham. Hi Rambo, how's the Landie?
After reading the past "few" pages, I thought I'd weigh in with some info. The 368 tender was prepared by Centrewest. At the time, Capital was having a torrid time with tenders and a fresh pair of hands was brought in try and help out. Dagenham wanted an extra bus once they had the route but were overruled by the TfL bean counters.
The engineering situation at BE should change as a new Engineering Manager has been brought in so, in theory, the multiple reporting of the same defects should come to an end. There is an issue with staff turnover as a lot of the engineers are agency staff. Any new full timers that do start there see the state of the buses and leave or get poached by other garages.
The main problem with the 498 is one of TfL's making. Rather than increasing the frequency of the route to every 20 mins with single deckers, they chose to double deck the route. This meant we lost the use of our diversion along Nags Head Lane avoiding the chaos at the Brook St roundabout. Centrecomm and/or Ibus seem to be unwilling to send us up and down Warley Rd and Mascalls Lane so we end up sitting in the traffic. The ironic thing is that the frequency increase came a few months later with the extension into Queens Hospital at the behest of Brentwood users who said there was significant demand for it. There isn't. Most passengers travel between the town centre and the hospital, very few travel right the way through.
If I can answer any questions you have, I'll try my best!

They could always bung 5 on the 498 for the new contract next year!
