Mine was Scania - The 1990s Nothern Counties version that ran from BW, U and T especially the ones in Docklands Express livery. Also really liked the Leyland Nationals used them first few years in secondary school on route 241 /278. www.flickr.com/photos/51738247@N03/12886964374Now its Tridents - I just find the seats comfortable compared to more modern buses.

Routemasters, particularly the 80s showbuses, RM8, 704/770 and RML2760 being favourites. All the special liveries eg. Shillibeer, Shoplinker. Titans, Metrobuses, ECW Olympians : did like tramways L136. Have a soft spot for the much maligned DMS.
Yes, I'm old. Don't laugh lol.

Even though I was only 2 when the RM went out of regular service for good in 2005, I've had many rides at Acton (I go there every year and ride an RM/RML/RT) and other places, I find it a great bus.

They look like nice buses wish I'd got a ride on them, they left London around the time I was born.

DA149, in original Armchair colours. Allocated to 209 but I remember when it would make a rare appearance on 117. Always remember breaking down on a hot summers day on the way back from Thorpe Park. That experience aside, what a beautiful bus.

Never rode those Scania N113DRB's but I fell in love with the type after a riding a R reg East Lancs Cityzen Euro II one in Brighton not long before their withdrawal - robust bus with a proper Voith box with those long gear ratios.

My three all time favourites are the L (the proper L's, not 264 onwards), M & the T. Simply put, I've never rode anything better than those three types.
As for others, here goes the long list:
Volvo Olympians (particularly London Central & General NV's, Metroline S reg AV's, Dublin RV's & Stagecoach Volvo engined examples with Voith boxes but basically I like any Volvo engined Volvo Olympian) Volvo Citybus (particularly London General VC's) Scania N113DRB MCW Scania Metropolitan DAF DB250's Darts (particularly Connex Y reg DA's, Connex 51 reg DP's & Stagecoach X reg Super Pointer Darts) VDL SB200 Wright Pulsar MAN 12.240 & 14.240 Euro IV Stagecoach ADL Enviro 300 Dennis Tridents (particularly any Connex example, any Stagecoach Voith Euro II example, 52 reg SWB Tridents that used to be on the 54 & 75 & any of London General PDL1-50). Volvo B7TL's (particularly any First London VN or VNL, any London Central and General PVL, any of Arriva London VLA1-73 & VLA144-179, London Central AVL's & London United VA's, London Sovereign 53 reg VLP's, any East Thames Bus B7TL) Alexander PS Leyland Lynx Scania N94UD Volvo B7RLE DMS Ex WMPT Volvo Ailsa minus the body

I don't really care much for RM's though the most notable one I remember growing up was RM5 in its golden jubilee livery which going through Brixton led it to become vandalised extremely quickly. Having had two rides on a DMS, albeit one on Ensignbus very slow shillibeer example, I quite like them as well. The other example I rode was absolutely fantastic and bombed it along a NSL section with that Gardener roar.

Ex WMPT Volvo Ailsa minus the body Where are you going to sit if there's no body Ailsas are wonderful buses as an enthusiast, but as a regular commuter, not really. Gosh those things screamed. The Ailsas I had most contact with were the ex. Tayside ones that Boro'line Maidstone had for a time on routes like the 422. You could hear them from a long way off...

Haha where's my ECW body kit I stored up lol. Because I'm probably the biggest fan of the Voith box, it's the screaming that makes me like them so much lol. Sadly, I've only had the one ride because they don't seem to turn up at the rallies down this way

Good choice, the Scania N113DRB is my favourite too. Although being in North London I have to go for the batch that London Northern had: www.flickr.com/photos/46341292@N05/8381878816... which explains my choice of nickname! I first encountered them on the X43 but remember them mostly from the 84/242. Haven't set foot on those routes since they were converted to those dreadful E200s. Of the newer buses I still have a soft spot for Scanias. Always thought the N230UD / Olympus was a great bus when new, especially the short-lived SO1-9 with their nice leather seats. They haven't lasted very well though, thanks to a combination of dreadful East Lancs build quality and harsh suspension.

Mine would be the MD class of Metropolitans, Titans (I remember walking home form secondary school and listening to the gardener engines along Masons Hill/ Bromley Common) plus they looked better than Metrobuese IMO. Todays buses would be ADL E400 Hybrids and 17/18000 Tridents.

Thankfully MD60 was rescued and it's a terrific bus.
