They weren't popular at the garages due to corrosion. It's said that some of them had rust found during the PDI!! Thankfully MD60 was rescued and it's a terrific bus. As is MD71(Ian's Bus page) Attachment Deleted

Mine was Scania - The 1990s Nothern Counties version that ran from BW, U and T especially the ones in Docklands Express livery. Also really liked the Leyland Nationals used them first few years in secondary school on route 241 /278. www.flickr.com/photos/51738247@N03/12886964374Now its Tridents - I just find the seats comfortable compared to more modern buses. Good choice, the Scania N113DRB is my favourite too. Although being in North London I have to go for the batch that London Northern had: www.flickr.com/photos/46341292@N05/8381878816... which explains my choice of nickname! I first encountered them on the X43 but remember them mostly from the 84/242. Haven't set foot on those routes since they were converted to those dreadful E200s. Of the newer buses I still have a soft spot for Scanias. Always thought the N230UD / Olympus was a great bus when new, especially the short-lived SO1-9 with their nice leather seats. They haven't lasted very well though, thanks to a combination of dreadful East Lancs build quality and harsh suspension. SO1 - SO9 were great buses, one of my all time favourites when they were on the 148. Those leather seats were awesome - it always seemed a shame to have to get off the bus. I loved the N230UD/Olympus and pretty much every Scania decker. I love the styling on some of the East Lancs bodies, but they seem fragile. After a couple of years the body work seems to rattle considerably, giving a very shaky feel to the ride. Why does this seem to affect East Lancs bodies?

RM's and RT's would have to be my favorite.
Doored buses it would have to be the MD's, many fond memories of them particularly on the 36/A/B. The Titans and Metrobus's were great, the Olympians L1-263 were never quite as good in my opinion but not bad none the less.
Present day it would have to be the E400H City.

Past
My favourite was the Metrobus. They were all different in their own little ways. Slow or fast, loud or purring.
I also loved the DT's , I still remember my first ride on one, DT5 on the first day & first bus out on the R70.
Present
Citaro K my favourite small single deck, Optare Tempo favourite large single deck.
Double deck would have to be Arriva's HA's.

If not an RM, then it would have to be a Titan. Very comfortable buses to travel on, even if the interiors were a little garish.

Eye-catching and a clear step up in quality from what preceded them. Lovely to ride on. Another favourite from this era was the Optare Delta.

After the 1st Gen DWs on the 258, the 65's Leyland Atlanteans in Armchair days in 1996 - It was a bit scary when they used to race each other along the narrow A307 towards Kew from Richmond Then the DLPs as they were unique to North London, and the DLAs when brand spanking new on the 242 The Scania engined RMs on the 8 were powerful and quick, and I liked the Voith Volvo Olympians that used to be on the 26 as well For single deckers, the Voith Darts on the 274 Such a shame there were no VDL SB200s in London, aside from MDL1 (which is technically the lower-rated SB180)

DDs: The Euro III DLAs and any of SP1-15. I hope London United hold on to these as long as possible. I love all the other OmniCitys, of course, along with all of Arriva's other 'D' buses. Go-Ahead's WVL1-211, Tower Transit's VNWs, Stagecoach's Tridents (I find ZF ones a bit meh) are older buses I like, whilst as new offerings go, Enviro400H MMCs. I have a soft spot for Metroline's Euro 6 VWHs too. I find the EvoSeti a bit bland compared to the curvy E400MMC and sharp FrogFace Gemini 3 (but NOT RATP's ones! ). SDs: Citaros, OmniCity SDs and another vote for those Voith Darts which I was robbed off of when Metroline decided to ruin the 214 with E200s.

MCW Metrobus for me! Especially M1199 - hence the username!
Other types I've been fond of:
LS Leyland National, both types although I preferred the Mk.1 MA Merc 811D Alexander, especially MA's 1, 02, 12, 66, 80, 82, 88 LLW Dennis Lance Wright Pathfinder - Someone has to like them, shame I don't think any have been preserved. DML Dennis Dart Marshall Capital, DML41336 TNL euro_2 Dennis Trident Plaxton President, especially TNL32926 Connex/Travel London/Abellio euro_3 Dennis Trident ALX400, especially 9765
Of the more modern stuff, there isn't really a lot that takes my fancy, however:
I like London United's Optare Tempo's - there's a slight hint of Optare Excel in them! Metroline's MAN 14.240 MCV Evolution's From the stuff off the Continent, my favourite has got to be the Iveco Cityclass with Noge Cittour body, especially Costazul.net's no.186 (9753 BFR)

Nice to see everyone's favourite buses are from before my time! Although to be honest I like older buses more than today's endless E40Ds, B5LHs, Streetdecks, enormous marine life forms, etc... My favourites, anything Euro2 or Euro3 (especially Y to 52reg) gets my vote. It's more fun making a big long list though, so enjoy: - All Euro3 3-speed buses qualify for this on the basis of rarity and that I prefer them to Euro2 Special mentions would go to the 160 and 54/75's 51 and 52reg Tridents. I didn't like the X-reg ones, personally preferred the Y-reg that cascaded down south. - Any Euro2 ZF Trident such as the Y-reg I just mentioned - I believe they were unique in that half of them were 5-speed and not the usual 4-speed. They sound great when thrashed. - Didn't do that many Connex Tridents in their prime but I had a soft spot for the 211's (I think it was the 211's) 02reg batch. - Any bendy bus and by extension any Citaro. I remember one journey where my parents got lost somewhere in central London and got a 73 kicked all the way to Victoria (with a lovely friendly driver to boot). - Scania N94s - bar the hard suspension I find them lovely, beastly buses. My favourites used to be the 181's Omnitowns which used to be really kicky (especially 612 to my memory) but sadly they aren't the same nowadays. The 119 or 320 in an Omnidekka used to give lovely views out of the huge upper deck front window. By the way, has anyone heard of a roaring N94 recently? I seem to remember some of the 181's buses (610 and 618 come to mind) did that all the time, and a few of the 358's ones. But I've never heard any in years. - Any PVL from 1-355, I remember PVL89 and PVL323 as particular favourites both after being given a good hammering on the 171. - Any WVL from 1-104 (go 3-speeders!) - sadly I didn't get to go on many of them before they started to dwindle. - The old East Thames VPs and VWLs were favourites going up the 185's hills. Sadly gone nowadays. - ALX200 bodied Darts, I preferred Pointers at first but the ALX grew on me more. Then half of them left because of TL losing the 181 and the other half was on the 124&co which I didn't use as much. Such things happen... - Speaking of Darts, always had a soft spot for all the MB ones. - Euro4 E400s for being infinitely superior to Euro5 ones (unless the Euro5 has Topodyn) - Overrevving buses I always find quite fun. It's much rarer to get an overrevving Voith versus a ZF in my experience, but I've had a few Tridents doing that. - Out of modern day offerings, I like a Euro6 E40H being thrashed. Or an E200MMC, or Citaro C2 being thrashed. Side note... As a little kid I always used to think buses only thrash when I'm going home... turns out I lived up a hill and so any bus would likely be kicking down when leaving my local stop As a bonus I could hear them from my house as well.

As is MD71(Ian's Bus page) I'm afraid MD71 was scrapped a few years ago. There are a couple of others still around, definitely the favourite for me followed by the Titan & RM plus the BL & DMS
