How can you simply add a destination or route on a bus blind? Do they send it off to be printed on the white gaps of the original blind? No, new sections are spliced in (usually at the end). With powerblinds has to be joined very carefully otherwise will snag then jam or tear, or not detect properly. There have been instances in past where a new destination is added by stencilling it on a blank section, but usually isn't as good It is quite expensive to amend a powerblind, so some companies include possible routes being bid for when ordering complete new blinds, I am not sure but I suspect RATP has included the proposed new route numbers (218, 306 ? etc) on its new buses, often the majority of destinations are already there for other routes. The marginal cost of adding couple of extra entries to a completely new blind is small compared to trying to order and accurately fit an insert.

Random question but does anyone know what else is included on the blinds on the 607’s new VMH’s? Are they standard G blinds or a mix of G and UX?

Noticed in Kingston today an SP on 111 and DE on 371 with bright green-yellow dayglow blinds, looked new.
Possibly either come out of stock, or have changed vehicle and not displayed it much as most dayglo are heavily faded.

The 34 new buses for the C10 and P5 will have Hanover LED destination screens.

Some blinds on the 111 seem to be from the ADEs which hardly spent any time on the route. So they haven’t faded as much.

Probably not. I expect the reason for having LED displays is that Caetano are not offering roller blinds as an option on the e.CityGold.

Not sure if this is accidental (side blind fitted in front blind box)(edit:just realised a side blind doesn't lok like that )but I think this is decent. Do people agree?

So TfL admits defeat regarding their policy of removing via points - should ask manufacturers to bring back the old blind boxes as well.

Yeah, I agree I wonder what would show if the bus was curtailed to ,say Harefield. I'm assuming it wouldn't have a via point then

I think this (and the similar displays for the U2) is a sensible, limited use of a via point to denote an indirect route. There will still be people who don't read the blinds in the first place though!

There will still be people who don't read the blinds in the first place though! Does this mean that the H13 will have a via point blind, as it is a verrrry indirect route. Actually, there wont be space on the Northwood Hills, St Vincent's blind. This via point thing has it flaws because a route with a qualifier in the destination cannot have a via qualifier.

I don’t disagree that it’s sensible but we had via points for decades before TfL decided first to remove them from the front and then the side before now seemingly admitting defeat and putting them back all be it in a reduced form.

Am I correct in saying that the only garages now without buses which have new-style blinds are DX (who don’t have any smartblinded buses period) and WJ? GY would’ve been included in this if it wasn’t for ENL111. It would just be better if there was more consistency and accuracy over blinds in general as opposed to stuff like “32 Kilburn Park” and “206 Kilburn Park Station” despite that they both stand at the same place and are run by the same operator. Not sure if the 295's VWH's at WJ have new style blinds but possibly some of the DE11* series which moved in not too long ago have new style blinds?
