Can anyone help me with a question please?
Do TfL keep copies of previous audit spreadsheets online somewhere, I can only see them going back to 2017. I'm doing a project and having the reports from 2001 onwards would be a huge help. I'm guessing that I'd have to write/email them.
I think the publication of the fleet audits is a relatively new thing. It was done, I think, for two reasons. One to stop endless FOI requests requesting info on the bus fleet. Second to provide a regular source of info for politicians - to stop them asking endless Mayoral Questions about the age / environmental profile of the bus fleet.
TfL are also very poor at providing online archives unless they are absolutely forced to do it (e.g. formal papers like TfL Boards and Committees). A lot of information just gets overwritten with no archive. People have to save each issue of documents (service change documents is an example of this).
I strongly suspect that a request to TfL wouldn't elicit the information even if they held it and I'm doubtful that they do keep it back to 2001. Even if you used FOI you might well run up against the £450 cost limit per request. If there was any sort of extensive digging around in archives or processing / transposition of data you'd likely hit the limit. Still there is no harm in asking if you can limit the scope of your request to try to keep it affordable - for instance just asking for year end information rather than quarterly or by financial period.
