Interesting to see the funding budget for Meridian Water increased by about £2 to 3 million than initially in 2015. Possibly they are trying to provide as much capacity as possible since Crossrail 2 is shelved.

Hopefully the trial on the 63 goes well. It’s an interesting route to choose, as it covers local leisure journeys, commuters and night time passengers.

Looks like the 30 strategic bus corridors really boil down to 7, one of which (Woolwich - Well Hall) looks slightly dubious given that much of it is missed by buses diverting via the QE Hospital. It is to be hoped that the Old Kent Road one is progressed further though, and the one between Mile End and Stratford would no doubt give Diamond Geezer plenty of Bus Stop M material. It's interesting to see an acknowledgement that buses have not been properly included as part of the Healthy Streets approach so hopefully that's a step forward. Unfortunately, to mix my modes, the ship has sailed on the A11 example and how you now shoehorn bus priority into the cycle route will be one to watch if it happens.

It’s also interesting that TfL picked Sutton - Rose Hill - Morden as a priority as well when the only route that goes across the entire route is the 164. Perhaps we might see a new bus lane on St Helier Avenue, there certainly is the space to build one. Perhaps we might also see a new red route and bus lane on the upper part of Rose Hill past Rose Hill Park West.

Seven corridors have been identified for delivery in 2021 and 2022, these are: - Croydon to Bromley - Morden to Sutton via Rose Hill - Mile End to Stratford A11 (will progress as two schemes) - Elephant & Castle to Old Kent Road (Dun Cow) plus Camberwell - New Cross and New Cross - Deptford Bridge (will progress as one scheme) - Archway to Angel A1 - Woolwich to Well Hall - North Circular (part - looks like Henley's Corner to Stonebridge Park from the map)

What is a strategic corridor? It looks like bus corridors that have been picked to improve bus services on it

Sutton to Rose Hill has just missed out on the Sutton Consultation and the Sutton tram most likely now.

There were far better options available then tearing up Sutton. Defineltly. An improvement to the Thameslink for one and a DD 164 with more priority.

Well I always thought the best option was to take over the Thameslink line between Sutton and Wimbledon giving a much high frequency tram service on this section. It would have been easy enough to do on the spur with a bridge connecting the tram terminus to the mainline station. Yes, it would have required some major work at Wimbledon but would have been financially beneficial long term given the amount of passengers. It would have released trains to increase Thameslink services on other lines.

Yes, it would have required some major work at Wimbledon but would have been financially beneficial long term given the amount of passengers. It would have released trains to increase Thameslink services on other lines. I think that was considered many years ago and then again recently with the Sutton link. Personally I'd rather it was split off as a London Overground service from Blackfriars then every 20 mins down to Sutton and loop via either Wimbledon or Mitcham Junction without the slow padded timetable and constant cancellations caused by running right across town up to St Albans or Luton. Probably the best we can hope for would be a DD 164 and a full 24h 154. St Helier Ave is a pretty wide road and Angel Hill isn't that busy as most trunk traffic goes along the By Pass so the corridor isn't that congested and the 164 could become an attractive way to reach Wimbledon. Could the 154 abd 164 be the next routes fot the higher spec buses trialled on the 63.

I wonder if there is a reason why the Sutton/Croydon consultation has gone pretty quiet. It closed in December last year and not even an update saying "we received alot of responses and we are analysing them now".
Could it be that with a £300 million saving means TFL don't want to commit at the moment to the increased costs of the new 439, more buses to Old Lodge Lane, Sunday service for the S4 (and new S2), 4 bph on the 413 to Belmont over the 3bph on the S3 etc. Even withdrawing the 455 and part replacing with the S4 will not make the changes cost neutral.
