Not had chance to reply properly until now.
I have mixed views about the outcome. I have said some of this before! :
241 /474 - I knew this was a done deal as the 241 usage towards Canning Town has dropped. It is a shame we lose a bus towards Plaistow / Stratford from Keir Hardie. It is a shame the route has not been extended anywhere as it is a very short route (I know we had a few years of this during Crossrail works). Not sure Keir Hardie really needs X2 night bus services! (N551)
300 - will take passengers a little time to adjust and get used to catching buses on the opposite side of the road in Prince Regent and also no longer goes via Green Gate
330 - It is a shame it will terminate in the middle of nowhere in North Woolwich road - passengers that used to use the 474 in Silvertown Way towards N Woolwich / City Airport are left with a pretty pointless bus service with no forward collections.
Freemasons Road / New Barn Street - I really feel these roads will be over bussed we currently have 11 buses per hour and with the 300 it will be 15.
Too many buses towards East Ham - 147,300,304,474 all within walking distant all going to East Ham (Different ways) don't really give us many new links.

I feel as if the 330 could’ve been extended towards North Woolwich ferry, at least it would of been a useful place to terminate since it links with the ferry, and the 473 extending to make space for the 330 to Gallions Reach. It’s a shame that Keir Hardie is gonna have two night buses yet Rainham doesn’t have a single night bus at all, 365 being too indirect to be a night bus for Rainham and Dagenham only having a weekend night service.

So assuming the changes are deferred GAL could operate the 104 as it runs now I think the PVR is one more than the new 104/304.
I'm still not convinced we are going to see a sudden surge in passengers using the 304 /300 ect to use Crossrail but we will see when it open in 2019.

The TVR of the current 104 is 20 whilst the modified 104 & 304 TVR is 23 so as you say, it should be fine.

With just over two months to go I am now wondering about the 241 /304 proposed changes. Crossrail are still using the stand space at Custom House Station. Prince Regent Bus station can take at least one route temporarily but not sure about two?

My guess is the 241 change won't go ahead, if they cut it without Crossrail being open they'll have basically walked into a fire. The only change that might have to go ahead regardless is the 304 as that's tied in with an operator change although I wonder if a clause exists so that Go Ahead can operate the existing 104 as is then split it when the time comes.

The 241 is not affected directly affected by Crossrail (Stuck record again but a around the houses local route that don't even serve anywhere that Crossrail will) but the 474 is as it would link Custom House to City Airport so agree would be difficult for these to swap routing until it opens.

The 104/304 provides a way of feeding into Crossrail rather then Crossrail replacing part of the route so can easily happen before. Similar would be that the 1 could have been extended to Canada Water before the jubilee line opened whereas cutting the 54 before Tramlink opening would have not been able to happen.

It’s a shame that Keir Hardie is gonna have two night buses yet Rainham doesn’t have a single night bus at all, 365 being too indirect to be a night bus for Rainham and Dagenham only having a weekend night service. I personally don’t think a night bus being indirect is a bad thing, serves lots of places, and (although I haven’t used it) I get the impression the 365 is pretty dead at night, being the least used night bus service in terms on patronage levels. That means buses will be quiet and journeys will be faster, so I don’t think that’s too much of an issue. However what I think is an issue (and haven’t even realised until you said) is that Dagenham doesn’t have a standard night bus service at all! What buses do we have through Dagenham: 103, 145, 173, 174, 175 and 364. Obviously the 145 is the one with the weekend night service (probably the best one tbh as the longest route, therefore serving the most places). The 174 should really run at night, it’s a really busy route, obviously in these times that’s pie in the sky. Off topic but another route that I’m BAFFLED that doesn’t run at night is the 221. Did it end to end about a month ago and nearly all of it runs alone, which means that whole communities are fully reliant on that service (no wonder it’s so busy) and *that* means those communities are disconnected from the nightbus network. Not good really. The N91 follows alongside it from New Southgate onwards to Wood Green, but the entire section between Mill Hill Bdway and North Finchley is completely disconnected.

I agree with your point about the N365 being under utilised, there have been points where I’ve been the only passenger, however I feel as if a 24 hour 165 would work much more better which would be able to provide a night link into Rainham and I’ve actually been on the last 165 where I’ve seen more loads than the 365 during the night. It could pretty much replace the N365 if the 165, during the night gets re-routed to Havering Park by withdrawing between Romford Market and Romford, The Brewery (during the night only) and going via the current 365 to Havering Park. But I don’t agree with the indirect nature being good, walking for an hour just to get to my house isn’t ideal during the night from Stanley Road South (when I used to live in Rainham). The 165 would’ve helped me a lot if it was a night bus. I reckon if the 165 was a 24 hour route it would most likely be more popular than the current N365.

Ah I think I misinterpreted you’re meaning of ‘indirect’, I took an indirect route as meaning just going round all the houses implying the journey takes far longer than it needs to

Can’t comment on peaks but I’ve seen people say it’s not even that busy during those too. As you say I think it has a night service purely to say Rainham has one, as it certainly doesn’t have the loads to justify one imo.
