This is me being a bit nosey. I've noticed that every so often a photo I've put on Flickr becomes "popular". Doesn't have to be recent - can be an old one (and not ones I post on this forum). It then gets favourited by a name I recognise and then over the space of a few days it's gets more favourites and views from other names I recognise. I had a phase where photos of Tridents on the 262 went bezerk in numbers of views - thousands of views accumulated.
Would I be correct in guessing that people chat on Facebook or elsewhere about photos they find or like. Not asking for any "confessions" about linking to my photos - just me being curious as I'm not on Facebook or privy to other bus chat places.

Hmmm, your 262s seem to have had a lot of views. Sounds familiar i.imgur.com/dzUaCVy.jpg?1If you click on the above link you can see my most viewed, and weirdly they're all of 262s as well I wonder if it's linked

That Flickr thing is called Explore. And I believe the bloke who sends the invite is called David Kraft (he's Flickr admin/staff). So far 21 of my photos ended up on it Please don't be jealous (I've had few bitter people who had just one selected photo complain to me), as a lot of these seems quite random - like what was special about a DN 26 turned to Shoreditch in 2015 or SE 362 in darkness? I believe the photos may end up getting Explored are ones that received lot of faves in quick succession and some algorithm may pick that up. As for Facebook, I haven't seen any 262s lately. My feed has mainly been new MMCs, Tridents and some vintage last century stuff. You can share a Flickr photo directly onto FB though if you paste in a link.

No "green eyed jealousy" here over Explore. I've had 2 or 3 snaps in Explore but it's no great shakes for me. I don't live for getting photos in Explore. I am talking about much lower levels of interest over photos than you get with Explore and it is with people on this Forum and on Flickr whose names I recognise.

How do you know if you've ever had a pic in explore? You get the Explore "groupies" leaving comments under your photo saying how wonderful it is and well done on Explore. Also views and "likes" normally go through the roof. It's easy enough to spot. If nothing else you just look at the "Explore" for that day via the menu at the top of the home page. If you look at my " three generations in one shot" photo you'll see what I mean.

I managed to find it by looking at what group a pic has been added to - by that definition, I've two in explore - a pic of 6470 fully blinded for the 126 (somehow, the pic of 6470 fully blinded for the 286 wasn't anywhere near popular which is odd) & a transfer ticket from E173 on the 453.

How do you know if you've ever had a pic in explore? Also to add to what Snoggle already said, another way to find out is look in your notifications - who faved your photos, commented on, followed you, as well as group invites - including In Explore, show up there. The groupies come swarming regardless if you've accepted the add or not. I've still not confirmed many of mine

What happens is that someone owns a group full of photos which have been in explore, and that's why you get the invite.

I was wondering why a whole load of people suddenly "faved" this photo of mine of DW35. I was invited to add it to some random group which I think was called "explore" but i graciously declined and blocked the person, as well as many others who were clearly not bus enthusiasts, and also had fake robot accounts by the looks of it.

It's happened to my pic of WS99 on the 355 - currently over 3.0k views and 70 odd likes including many faves from non enthusiasts
