An agreement looks set to be reached between TfL and Delancey, the developers of the Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre construction site. A previous agreement required TfL to commit to fitting out the station box once Delancey had built it, however this was pre-pandemic and clearly TfL is no longer in a position to commit. The new agreement requires a change to the Section 106 Agreement that was signed with Southwark Council, but as all parties still want the work to go ahead this looks set to be a formality. The new agreement will see Delancey construct the new station box, which will be competed in around 2027. The box will then be left empty until TfL is in a position to fit it out. Once this is done, it will replace the existing Northern Line ticket hall. There will also be passive provision for three escalators down to the new platforms Bakerloo Line Extension, when that eventually gets built. www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/tfl-secures-deal-to-build-new-elephant-and-castle-station-entrance-52200/

The Borough High Street entrance to London Bridge Underground is to get an additional opening, to reduce the congestion that occurs on the pavement outside. The new opening will be at the other end, to the rear of the entrance hall, and will open on to a new courtyard that is being laid out as part of the New City Court office development. It will enable passengers heading east to proceed directly to St Thomas Street, whilst passengers heading south along Borough High Street can also use the new exit and proceed via King's Head Yard. www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/upgrade-to-reduce-congestion-at-london-bridge-tube-station-52335/

Test trains will operate through the new southbound tunnel from mid-April. The upgrade is on schedule and, barring any serious setback, the line will reopen on the target date. LU has taken advantage of the closure to carry out work at London Bridge and Borough including lifts and escalators, and enabling works at Elephant & Castle for the future station upgrade.

No surprise TfL took advantage of the the closure. I saw the pictures that Ian visits took its looking really good.

No lifts done at London Bridge. Escualtor from Borough High Street to northern line done but this would of had to be done in any case.

To my Northern line travellers. One thing I do ask myself was why did they do away with the "Mainline suburban rail services" announcement.
I think my two favourite announcements had to be King's Cross and the Euston (Bank Branch) announcement. I do remember the Waterloo announcement when Eurostar used to serve there.
This station is Waterloo change here for the Waterloo and City, Bakerloo and Jubilee lines and Main Line intercity, suburban and international rail services. This train terminates at Golders Green.
Good times good times.

Up untill atleast 2003 it still said Netork Southeast and even at Bank did as the W&C line was still under it in 1993.

Looks like the entire Bank-Monument station complex is closed this Sunday, 1st May. Central Line passengers are advised to use St Paul's or Liverpool Street and walk/bus, Circle and District Line passengers are advised to use Cannon Street.
DLR is not operating to Bank from Saturday through to Holiday Monday, trains will be rerouted into Tower Gateway.
