Just back from my annual Blackpool trip.
I am always impressed with the service Blackpool Transport provide, I managed to ride the new since I last visited E400 City's Palladium branded buses - these buses are very impressive and finished to a high spec inside with e-Leather seats, Free Wifi, wood effect flooring. I though these buses were hybrids but just read they use fuel saving ‘smart accessories’ and stop-start capability.
The drivers are very professional and friendly dealing with countless tourists asking questions about fares and issues day passes at most stops. I have never used Wifi on buses but on both the trams and buses it worked brilliantly. Really good to compare London buses to services outside of the capital.

Living near Manchester I belong to a North West Bus Forum. They have a page on Blackpool Transport and often quote from this blog. fyldebus.blogspot.co.uk/

Hello Dan
As a Blackpool Transport Bus driver, it was very nice to read your comments.
Blackpool Transport is under going a 5 Year transformation, where the branding will be changed and the By 2020 NO bus will be older than 5 Years old. Customer service is an area that is also under review, with better customer service training the whole experience can be a pleasant one for all.

I look forward to seeing whats changed when I return next year. Can I ask a quick question which you might be able to answer - I used the 15 /16 circle routes (Now withdrawn) and noticed each time the routes got to the town center they swapped from 15 to 16 and vice versa was every trip inter worked? so drivers did one clockwise trip as a 15 then anti clockwise as a 16? or the other way around. Thanks!

So I am back from another trip to Blackpool! Must say Blackpool Transport buses never fail to impress me! It seems the whole fleet is pretty much E400 Cities and E200 MMCs! I only see two older Tridents both Driver Trainers. Every bus I see was in Palladium branding.
Buses and Trams are still very much cash fares, I never noticed if you could use contactless! Noticed most visitors use either 24 Hour or 3 day tickets both excellent value. The only downside is the network does seem to change each time I visit with route numbers changing.

Sounds like the fleet has drastically changed a lot since the one time I went roughly 10 years ago - back then, they were still using ELC Lolynes (mostly new to them but including at least one ex Blue Triangle example), ECW, Alexander & Northern Counties Olympians of various ages ranging from X suffix reg right down to M reg (sightseeing tour had ex London ECW L's), Deltas, Excels & Solos
