A thought I had about now which probably is not much to talk about whether this pedestrianising happens or not is that TFL have completely damaged part of London's main tourism hotspot which can obviously lead to more factors With no routes running inbetween Oxford Street, its very hard for people to now to commute from other sides of the city. The 98 is a poor example and the 390 most definitely is aswell. The 139 simply won't be able to take all the loads either. Seems like we have a new Trafalgar Square where its a terminus hotspot like Stratford also. Didnt feel so long ago when we had bus routes 6, 8, 10, 15, 23, 25, 113, 137, 159, C2 and more I have may forgotten down Oxford Circus C2 did not go down Oxford Street, but 13 did.

There was a large consultation in regards to Oxford Street but didn't break down specific routes to comment on but more the entire scheme.

Didn’t BW also work the S2 in 1988-91? Looking at the below BW ran the S2 24/2/90 - 26/9/92 when the route moved to the new SD.
Sorry I'd forgotten about route S2 moving to BW. It was still true about BW having no routes other than routes 8 Mon-Sat and 25 Daily in 1988-90 though.

Iv seen an article that says pedestrianisation of Oxford Street is officially cancelled including the 2 piazzas at Oxford Circus.
Hopefully this will mean the 22, 55 and 73 can come continue right up to and cross the junction to their terminals rather then the cut short proposals. This might just take away some justification for cutting the 94 back to Marble Arch as it now won't have to go on a diversion at Oxford Circus in order to reach Piccadilly Circus.

I think now Westminster is a Labour borough they will push for all four sides. Let’s not forgot it was the previous borough administration that was wisely disagreeing with TfLs plans.

As far as the 94 is concerned, pedestrianisation may be what they officially say (along with a whole host of other excuses such as Elizabeth Line or encouraging the use of walking and cycling), but it's obvious the real reason is to save money. I don't think this will change things

I'm not sure if any stand has been created yet in Portman Square for it.

The 137 should be restored to Oxford Circus too. Is the 22 even busy on Regent Street anyway? It never stands out to me, especially as the the 12, 159 and 453 are constantly overcrowded. The 137 would also retain links from Hyde Park Corner, Knightsbridge and Sloane Square.

Whilst not as busy as other routes on Regent Street it serves as a very useful link between Hyde Park Corner and Oxford Circus which the 137 linked albeit by a different route.

From what I've seen the 22 to Oxford Circus hasn't been particularly successful and it really ought to be returned to Piccadilly. The routing via Berkeley Square has a lot of potential for providing north-south links like the C2 did, as a faster alternative to Park Lane, potential which isn't being realised with the 22 only going up to Oxo.

Piccadilly is still a mess though, I took the 22 a few weeks ago and it was gridlocked. Took 30 minutes to get from Hyde Park Corner to Green Park tube station. Personally I like the 22s routing. There may be merit diverting it back after the 14 goes to maintain a link between Putney and Piccadilly but there isn’t really an ideal replacement for the 22 through Berkeley Square. I don’t recall the C2 being particularly busy on that section either. Perhaps it should be entirely dropped.

This is the problem with any route going through the heart of Mayfair, residents there are not likely to take the bus! As with the 8, then the C2, now the 22; there aren't a lot of people alighting in the Berkeley Square area. Though the 22 carries the least passengers out of the three over that section, it's clear from my personal opinion that very few journeys start/stop in Mayfair.

I do think that section suits a Victoria link like the 25/8/C2 had. That's why I always felt the 11/311 change was better then what's currently proposed and with the 14 going even more reason to take the 22 back to Piccadilly Circus.
