He isn't being hysterical, Evening Standard have been printing it over the past few months. Shock horror - the Standard has printed rubbish for months on end. And just for the record I did not say Mr Eastlondoner was being hysterical. I was merely saying that 3 month ahead forecasts are nonsense as the Met Office itself acknowledges if you read its website and the caveats it puts around its 1 month look ahead. Looking ahead only 7-10 days is a bit more accurate but even then there are no guarantees. Heck Meteo Group, that the BBC now use, can't even get forecasts of rain correct on the day when it is actually raining!

Next week from Monday onwards is looking very interesting - lets hope we don't see a repeat of 2009 with all buses taken off the road.
Love the snow!!

Me too and I'll be d*mn disappointed if this turns out to be another false alarm. I'm looking forward to meeting this beast from the east, wife thinks I'm mad and she probably does have a point to be fair!

The consensus is building that from Mon night through to next weekend regular heavy snow certainly across Kent & Essex , inc SE & E London. No warnings yet though so met office holding off the hype. Memories being rekindled of a sudden un expected snow storm in Nov 2009 which caused carnage during pm rush hour in London. A 410 vehicle was left abandoned on Hamlet Road SE19 for over 2 days and a 249 slid sideways down Anerley Hill. Luckily no injuries.

I'm quite looking forward to it as well, I've got a few people I know that I want to throw a few snowballs at but I'm still sceptical it's as bad as they're making it out to be. If it is serious then London I doubt London is very much prepared for this, just the slight snowfall in December managed to cripple parts of the transport network.

I can remember from my childhood RT's on the 154 and 157 coming a cropper on Anerley Hill in the snow. I've always had a fascination with extreme weather, -40 in Ulaanbaatar, just awesome!

Doesn't take much snow to bring the UK to a halt, hopefully Tramlink will keep going come what may! I wouldn't be surprised though if it turns out to be just a bit of horrible slush.

There was an awfully cold night many years ago just after the Metro-Scania Metropolitans were allocated to New Cross garage. At the time this one of a few garages to not have a roof.
They did not have antifreeze and many cylinder heads cracked overnight.
It proved very difficult to get them back on the road.

I hate it and am utterly dreading the next fortnight. I loathe February for precisely this reason - it gives us horrible weather when we think we've escaped it. I'm very tempted to jump on a plane and go somewhere warm for a week. Still we're not as cold as Berlin where temperatures are forecast to be down as low as -9C but feeling like -15C due to wind chill.

Snow is great when one is snuggled up inside their home, however once you have to go outside and do stuff in it, it becomes awful. Travel chaos is almost guaranteed next week.

I hope this will actually happen and it’s not just a false alarm. It’s been 5 years since it last snowed bad enough to cause days of disruption down here in Croydon, and since I live within 5 minutes of a station, walking down there and watching trains arcing and struggling in the snow is my entertainment. Let’s just hope the snow doesn’t fall on Sunday...or I’ll be stuck!

The Met Office are expecting to release their first early warnings tomorrow.

Fingers crossed it snows - love how the outside gets transformed into a wintry setting with everything blanketed in snow. It will give me a chance to dust off my snowball throwing skills
