It's good to see the stations nearing completion and handover - even Bond Street is sufficiently advanced to open from the start of service. After all the years of dreaming, planning, false starts and construction delays, the finishing line now seems to be in sight. Roll on 2022!

The Mayor of London has been given an additional ten years - to March 2043 - to impose a Crossrail levy on property developers in London. This should allow the Mayor to collect an extra £1billion towards the construction of the project. The levy is imposed on developers above a certain size and is applied across London, although the levy is higher on richer areas and on areas closer to the Crossrail line. This is done on the basis that the line will increase the value of property developments in the future. The levy could help TfL to repay the additional £825 loan that it was granted by the Government last December, which has to be repaid from future income. A blogger from South East London and an editor from London Reconnections both reporting on Twitter that trial running has begun on the Lizzie line today, with 4 trains an hour running between Abbey Wood and Paddington between Monday and Thursday.

I’ve literally just realised no one will ever call it the Elizabeth Line, it will quickly become the Lizzie Line.

I do not say things like vic like etc. Lizzie line just sounds tacky and childish to me.

The initial phase of trial operation on the central core has started, a limited "service" is being operated. This will eventually be ramped up to a full "service" and trial events such as crowd control and station/train evacuations will take place. Public opening is still planned for the "first half" of 2022 (which technically can be any time until 2nd July!). Integration of the TfL Rail services will take place on a gradual basis and will be timed to co-ordinate with the twice-annual National Rail Timetable changes.
For a line that was initially conceived before the Second World War, it's been a long time coming!

From the Saturday timetable change coming, there would be no more fast train on the TfL rail (eastern side). There are normally a lot of AM and PM peak fast trains that miss out stations. Now every train would serve every stop.

The new timetable also appears to stop the Gidea Park terminating trains apart from on Sundays with every peak train terminating at Shenfield.
