I've spoken to others who also couldn't connect for most journeys. What kind of systems do they use if a 2021 Samsung can't connect? I have a 2021 Samsung and managed fine, although it also does come down to what WiFi point you use. Virgin Media Wifi is the one that tends to work while WiFi extra is pretty much a dud. The only one in the stations and tunnels was "TfL_Wi-Fi", which is the one me and others have been trying to connect to

WiFi Extra and Virgin Media WiFi are hard connections that go from the station through wires which is why they should be used until 4G is enabled to allow the trains to connect to it.

Is there a reason TfL fares are different on the tube compared to the Elizabeth Line? For example Zone 3 to Zone 6 is £1.90 on the Underground compared to £2.50 on the Elizabeth Line. There's a special 'Anglia' fare table for stations outside Zone 1 which also affect London Overground services from Liverpool Street which was implemented to protect GA's revenue. This only affects stations east of Stratford on the Elizabeth Line for local journeys. The Zone 1 fare is on the standard fare scale from those stations. The other stations are under the standard TfL fare scale in Zones 1-6.

In the end I connected 3 times for a few minutes, with a WiFi T&Cs acceptance page and after that it worked somehow 🤔. In the tunnels, that network was the only one available, no WiFi Extra or Virgin Media WiFi?

Well what can I say. Wow!! Yesterday was amazing. Managed to go on the Elizabeth line a bit later on the day but it was completely worth it. The stations are huge. The trains compared to the likes of the Central and Northern lines are far quieter. The speed of the journey is exceptional. There will be a premiere of my journey on my YouTube channel at 6pm tonight. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhOyJcVaD0c

That network is available, but it won't connect to anything in the tunnels as there is nothing for it to connect to. Think of it as a router thats plugged into power, but not plugged into broadband. When 4G is activated in the tunnels it should work, although by then most people would probably use their data plans which will probably allow more bandwidth to be used.

Worth the wait : the Elizabeth line is great, and I enjoyed exploring it yesterday evening.
Just for historical record, does anyone know which were the first units to run on the core section yesterday (ie which trains formed the 06:30 from Abbey Wood and the 06:33 from Paddington)?

Well : a YouTube video I found confirms that the first train from Paddington to Abbey Wood, the 06:33, was unit 345001. Just the 06:30 Abbey Wood to Paddington to find out now. The second was 345011, and I caught this later in the day after just missing 345008, so was it 345008 that did the first passenger journey from Abbey Wood?

The Elizabeth Line really is a game changer. I was really surprised how many more people I see walking towards Custom House Station this morning.
I imagine even after one day there has been a drop in passengers using the DLR and Underground because of the well publicised opening and quicker journey times on the new line.

Yes - but taking the longer-term view, extra capacity has been freed up on those lines for further growth in passenger numbers, which was one of the main reasons for building the Elizabeth Line. Often where a line is relieved, after a few years those lines are up to their former passenger levels once more. The Elizabeth Line is a railway for the next 100 years so it should not be judged for its immediate impact on other lines.

Very impressed with the Elizabeth Line, took a detour before starting my late shift yesterday by taking DLR from Deptford Bridge to Greenwich then Thameslink to Woolwich Arsenal then the 472 to Abbey Wood - I’m really liking this new routing also it makes it easier for me to visit family in Thamesmead West, once at Abbey Wood I took the Elizabeth Line to Farringdon and was Also impressed with the quick interchange at Farringdon to the Thameslink platforms, I’ve already started to look at apartment in the woolwich area now due to the Elizabeth line opening 😬

I couldn't resist another ride today, one gripe somebody mentioned is a lack of toilet facilities at any of the stations, is this correct? Seems very poor if that is the case. I used the Bakerloo Line afterwards and it seemed so dated and claustrophobic by comparison.
