Because of reduced capacity at Winnersh Triangle Car Park whilst expansion work is taking place, the Park & Ride operation will move to a temporary location near Thames Valley Park, at the end of the A329.
Park & Ride route 500 will cease after Saturday 27th November. However from Monday 29th November an alternative route 400 will operate between the temporary car park at Thames Valley Park and Reading Town Centre, serving the same stops and using the same buses and drivers. The service will continue to operate at a 15-minute frequency; first buses from Thames Valley Park and last buses back from Reading Town Centre will be at the same times.
Passengers who used route 500 to travel between Reading Town Centre and workplaces at Winnersh Triangle will be able to use route 4/X4 instead; alight at the Cavendish Gardens stop and use the footpath under the railway line. Park & Ride period tickets will be accepted on the 4/X4.
The service will be supported by Wokingham Borough Council and will continue until at least Christmas Eve, to cater for the additional seasonal shopping traffic. Reading Buses hopes that additional funding will enable to service to continue until the expanded car park at Winnersh Triangle is completed.

Optare Solo SRs 193 and 194 are being returned to Dawson Rentals and have been repainted in allover white. This is due to the withdrawal of Thames Valley Buses routes 10 and 459 last year following loss of funding from Heathrow Airport, and there is no prospect of the routes returning.

Reading Buses and Thames Valley Buses has announced a fares revision, to be effective from Monday 3rd January 2022. It is the first change to fares for over two years and is aimed at making up a shortfall in running costs which is not being covered fully by Covid recovery funding. Most single fares will increase by 10p, and most returns and day tickets will increase by 20p with proportionate increases for period tickets and easysaver multi-ride tickets. However most app. based prices are frozen at current levels. Some people will see their fares actually go down. A new "simply Wokingham & Reading Zone" is being created, covering the simply Reading Zone but also incorporating Wokingham, Arborfield & Shinfield, Spencers Wood and Burghfield Common (and also Sonning Common although this is in Oxfordshire rather than Wokingham Borough). All Reading Buses and Thames Valley Buses services within the new Zone are included. Previously travellers in this area would need to use simply Network products. On Thames Valley Buses the "Reading Zone" tickets specific to routes 127/128/129 will be withdrawn, instead the simply Reading Zone will be extended out to Sonning and will include these routes as well as all Reading Buses services in the Zone. www.reading-buses.co.uk/fares-changewww.thamesvalleybuses.com/test

A bit of late news: the Vodafone contract in Newbury was suspended again after operation on Friday 10th December due to new Work From Home guidance. Vehicles 781 and 782 transferred over to Reading Buses on 9th December and the contract was covered by single-deckers on 9th and 10th December.

I'm sure this is the route they took over from Stagecoach about 6 or 7 years ago. Half of it. Stagecoach retained operation of the southern half between Fleet and Aldershot. It was 2018 the route was split.
