I'm sure this is the route they took over from Stagecoach about 6 or 7 years ago. Half of it. Stagecoach retained operation of the southern half between Fleet and Aldershot. It was 2018 the route was split. The two routes overlap slightly - the Stagecoach route starts in Hartley Wintney, and also provides a service to the Phoenix Green area of Hartley Wintney and the Elvetham Heath area of Fleet (which the Reading Buses routes does not). Like the Reading Buses service, its timetable too has been severely reduced since 2018. The Hart area of Hampshire is not good bus operating territory.

Yes, I was simplifying the split for the benefit of the previous poster, given Stagecoach now only reach Hartley Wintney twice per day - and only on weekdays at that! Those mere two morning/lunchtime round trips do indeed overlap between the roundabout outside Elvetham Heath and Hartley Wintney, but the more regular section between that roundabout and Fleet town centre aren't direct overlaps as Stagecoach divert off the main road to take in Dukes Mead/Calthorpe Park and run past the entrance of the Edenbrook estate. With Stagecoach's 7 being in receipt of Hampshire County Council funding, it'd be nice to think they might help arrange a low cost extension of the first journey from Elevetham Heath, and last journey(s) back, to run to/from Hartley Wintney to maintain a link between there and Fleet town/station for workers, but I won't be holding my breath....

Ruby 10 (Kennet Island), Green Park 50 and Mereoak Park & Ride 600 are also having temporary timetable reductions from the same date, with the 600 withdrawn on Sundays. www.reading-buses.co.uk/timetable-changes-17-janAlso the Football Specials are being reduced for the Reading v. Fulham game on Tuesday 11th January, with routes F10, F11, F12, F13, F21, F22, F24, F31, F32 and F33 not running. Passengers are being advised to use ordinary routes into Reading town centre and pick up the F1 to Madejski Stadium - a "Matchday Travel Ticket" for the day is £4.50 adult, £2.90 boost. The F1, F2 and F3 shuttles will still operate, as will longer-distance routes F14 (Henley), F20 (Newbury), F23 (Theale & Pangbourne), F30 (Twyford), F51 (Basingstoke), F52 (Farnborough), F53 (Wokingham) and F54 (Bracknell). www.reading-buses.co.uk/suspension-some-football-servicesThe reduced Football Specials service will also apply for the Reading V. Luton Town match on the evening of Wednesday 19th January.

Apologies if I've missed it in this thread, but does anyone know what happened to the five cancelled Metrodeckers? I've found YJ70 EWC/D at Johnsons of Henley and YJ21 FDD now at Central Connect (after a spell with Centaur). Do we know if the other two ever got acquired by anyone? Thanks in advance.

No they haven't, looking at BLOTW website the two of the cancelled Reading batch with body numbers Oe 340050 & Oe 340051 have been bulit but yet to be taken by someone so far, looks as if Optare will probably needs to further cut the price down of those Metrodeckers in order for someone to buy them soon.

Reduced Football Specials also apply for the Reading v. Huddersfield fixture on Saturday 22nd January (3pm KO) I assume the reduced levels of service are in line with the clubs declining attendances? Reading Buses says it it due to covid-related staff absences. Reading Buses hasn't been hit as hard as other operators, but by taking out the services that operate within the Reading urban area (for which there are alternative regular services to connect with the F1 in the town centre) it provides extra resilience. I suppose that is attendance is declining, it is possible that some of the suspended services may not reappear.

Visited Reading town centre this afternoon, today's observations -
At least two of the workings on University shuttle 21a were single deck / midi (one bus 680, one a 'ruby 10' single deck and didn't see any other 21a's - think it requires 3 buses. Not sure if this is a regular thing now in response to part lockdown, or a bus shortage.)
Gas solo 183 on one working on Park + Ride 400 (not seen one of them doing that before.)
Royal Blue (route 33) buses appear still to be off the road, route 33 being operated with generic d/d buses.
Hospital shuttle H1 (NHS staff shuttle - contract not public service, although timetable is on RB website) is still running, the green liveried gas Solo seems to be the preferred bus for this.
One Thames Valley generic d/d on the 4 / X4 but that's not very unusual any more. Red 194 livery d/d has appeared once or twice.

For those who haven't seen, 781 and 782 are being repainted in Greenline colours (781 is awaiting sign-writing now) They are meant to replace 1212 and 1214, 1208 will be staying. 781 and 782 transferred to Bracknell on 17th January for Green Line route 703, 782 has been used in its red livery on occasions whilst awaiting its repaint into Green Line livery. The Vodafone contract, which resumed on 24th January following the ending of the Government's work at home advice, is now operated by two Newbury & District Wright Streetlites - on paper 166 and 167 are allocated but in practice any Streetlite is used. Newbury & District has also acquired another new 72-seat Plaxton Leopard with centre wheelchair lift, 1420 (YX71 LWF) which will receive signwriting during February. A lift will not now be retrofitted to 1418 and this returned to Dawson Rentals on 27th January. Source: groups.google.com/g/buszone

Reading Buses will be running all its F-prefix Football Specials for the Reading v. Coventry game on Saturday 12th February (k.o. 3pm).
A reduced level of service had been operating since 19th January due to covid-related staff absences.

Storm Eunice: Reading Buses services are operating well, although there may be delays to jetblack 1 (Reading-Newbury) as Reading Buses is instructing drivers to operate at a lower maximum speed along the A4.
Route 21a is not operating as the University is closed today, route 21 is operating normally.

The 703 is due to receive a new timetable from 13th March. There will be two early morning journeys from Slough to Heathrow Terminal 5 at 03.26 and 04.26, and a late journey from Heathrow Terminal 5 to Windsor at 23.30. Heathrow Airport staff can get 50% off a simply Slough and Windsor 28-day ticket, in a deal that was introduced during the pandemic. The ticket costing £31 is only available via the Green Line app and staff must show a valid Heathrow ID when boarding.
