I've just realised that the Ipswich Reds "Shuttle 60s" within Ipswich (to Greenwich & Gainsborough) seem to have been quietly dropped. These competed with Ipswich Buses routes 1 and 3 which cover virtually all the same roads. Further to this, from 4th October the evening service on route 3 (after 19.30 Monday-Saturday) now operates as service 3E and diverts along Landseer Road to Greenwich (Holbrook Road), returning the same way. Route 2 continues to provide an evening service to John Lewis. There is also an early morning 3E journey departing Holbrook Road at 06.05 and operating through to Ipswich Railway Station, arriving 06.25. Also from the same date routes 4 (Bixley), 8 (Whitehouse & ASDA) and 9/10 (Castle Hill & Whitton) gained increased frequencies as more routes move towards pre-covid service levels. The evening and Sunday service in route 4 is now operated under contract to Ipswich Borough Council.

Ipswich Buses is making minor timetable changes to routes 3/3E, 5/5E, 8, 9/10, 12 and 118/119 from Sunday 3rd January. There is a slight increase to the morning peak frequency on routes 9/10. Evening services will remain at an hourly frequency due to low demand. From Monday 4th January Ipswich Buses will be operating new route 8B from Ipswich to Sproughton and Bramford, in response to concerns by residents and businesses along the route about a lack of public transport facilities along the route. Initially the route will operate three journeys a day on Monday-Friday schooldays only, but Ipswich Buses is seeking Section 106 funding from businesses and property developers along the new route (there is an Amazon warehouse along Sproughton Road) so that a much improved service can be offered. www.ipswichbuses.co.uk/new-bus-service-8b-from-ipswich-to-bramford/

Ipswich Buses made some minor adjustments from Monday 11th January, namely the removal of some "student extra" journeys.

Ipswich Buses has struggled somewhat with the snowy/icy conditions. Services started to deteriorate on Sunday afternoon with buses being withdrawn from sections of route, and by late evening all services were suspended completely.
On Monday 8th Ipswich Buses operated Sunday timetables on its town routes where it was able to do so, country routes were all suspended. Last departures from Ipswich Town Centre were around 19.00.
On Tuesday 9th Ipswich Buses again operated Sunday timetables on its town routes, although were unable to serve a few roads at times. An hourly service also operated on route 1 from 13.55 (this route does not normally operate on a Sunday).
Ipswich Reds (First Norfolk & Suffolk) ran most services with some diversions. Worst affected is the 64 which hasn't got to Aldeburgh for two days. On Monday 8th it shuttled between Ipswich and Wickham Market, on Tuesday 9th it did get as far as Leiston but was cut back to Saxmundham during the afternoon.

This morning (Wednesday 10th February) most services are operating to their normal Monday-Friday (school holiday) times. As of 08.45 Ipswich town route 14 is not yet operating and the 06.25 route 91 Ipswich-Hadleigh journey (which is contracted to Ipswich Buses) did not operate. Route 16 is not serving Halifax Road and Montgomery Road and route 118 is not serving Stradbroke. Ipswich Reds are running most routes normally (including to Aldeburgh again on the 64) but some villages and estates are being missed out.

Country route 98 and the Stradbroke section of route 118 are listed as not running but these only operate on schooldays anyway. Ipswich Reds are running normally, apart from a few villages and estates still not being served.

Everything back to normal now, the only changes are Ipswich Reds routes 75/77 not serving certain roads in Trimley St Martin and route 116 not serving Mickfield.

Ipswich seems to have a single deck Wrightbus on loan It is in Northern Ireland Translink colours (so presumably one of the production batch) Seems to be a new design, like a Streetdeck without an upstairs, and is presumably the replacement for the Eclipse www.flickr.com/photos/186424735@N03/50952044958/Photo by Mark Smith

Comments suggest that it is an integral, on the Daimler OM936, and that Translink have a order of 40. The Streetlite was discontinued last year (according to Bus Lists On The Web), so I presume this is a replacement for it. After 7 years, they have finally settled on a more powerful engine on their single decker products, with only one for their double decker products (although, they were run by a different group)! According to this, it is called the StreetSaloon.

You maybe correct about the Streetlite, but then it maybe that like the StreetDeck, they have discontinued the WrightBus chassis numbering and started a fresh BamfordBus range. So it may still be available and next orders will take a new sequence, with the WriggtBus range discontinued.

First is to rebrand its Ipswich-based operations as "Ipswich Reds" and ADL Enviro200 44517 (YX09 ACY) has already appeared in a new two-tone red livery. Apparently some Gippeswykians still refer to their buses as "the greens" and "the reds", harking back to the days of Ipswich Corporation and Eastern Counties! Source: eastnorfolkbus.blogspot.com The "Reds" branding is to be extended to First's Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft-based operations, which will become "Coastal Reds" and will have a very similar livery.

It might have been nice for Great Yarmouth buses to be painted blue & white as a nod to former municipal Great Yarmouth Transport. Lest we forget, the Excel services linking Norwich with Peterborough have red buses too.

Ipswich Reds (First Norfolk & Suffolk) has introduced temporary reduced timetables on Felixstowe Flyers 75/77/X7 and Park & Ride 800 from Monday 25th October, superceding the previous arrangement of "planned cancellations". This is due to the ongoing national shortage of bus drivers.
Felixstowe Flyers 75/77 now operate every 20 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes between Ipswich and Felixstowe, with two buses an hour to Grange Farm (75) and one an hour to Landguard Fort (77). The X7 is suspended apart from a Monday-Friday morning journey departing Grange Farm at 07.35 and an evening journey departing Ipswich at 17.10.
Ipswich Park & Ride now operates every 20 minutes instead of every 15 minutes at most times.
Ipswich Buses appears to be covering most of its journeys now although school half-term is probably helping matters.
