Well Epping is perhaps not the best place to see a busy EOS bus. With the 87, most people travelling to Harlow would use the Trustybus or Arriva routes as they are more frequent. Their other route in Epping is the 13 to Waltham Cross is a council contract and has never been a busy route. The 66 is a much better established route, and is often busy. I’m surprised they didn’t keep this route, as it is a busy route in comparison to other routes in SW Essex, but I don’t know anything about business. EOS appeared to be doing a much better job than Arriva and Trustybus, and now that’s pretty much all passengers are left with in Harlow/Waltham Abbey/Epping. Not a good enough job though to survive : EOS cease trading after 31st July with majority of work passing to Arriva. A bit of a fiasco - Arriva cannot start running the services yet because of 'legal issues'. That sounds to me like the Traffic Commissioner refusing to play ball and not agreeing to a short notice registration. No doubt this is ' pour encourager les autres' but it's the passengers with no service who will suffer.

Could they not run 'on hire to EOS' or, if that's no longer a legal entity, 'on hire to Swallow', to current timetables?

The Traffic Commissioner hasn't objected to anything - they just haven't got around to processing the application yet! Total incompetence from the TC in my opinion. Arriva are all ready to go with buses and drivers all ready apparently.

Arriva have finally received notification that they can operate the former EOS routes.
Routes started operating on 3rd August (so only a two day hiatus in service).
