Like Snoggle said forget about anything happening at West Hampstead... it sees the same level of Jubilee line service as Canary Wharf does (even if the service levels were to be reduced as has been mooted) and we know which is generally busier. The Met offers a decent run between Finchley Road and Wembley and quite frankly there is a better chance it will serve Willesden Green or Neasden and that’s not happening either. Even if TfL had the money and resources I very much doubt they’ll be interested in improving WH capacity.
Back to the Picc and the Ealing part, interests me also. It has interesting connotations
- with only 3 platforms available at Ealing Broadway, does 3 tph on the Pic also mean 3 tph on the Ealing District branch? Do the Ealing Picc trains run local from Hammersmith? If so, how does LU reflect this on maps and publicity? If not, that greatly devalues Chiswick Park with a halved service. Although trains could still run 6 tph combined to Ealing, is a 20 minutes interval on each acceptable? Of course these figures are suppositions, and the District line might get an enhanced service anyway, but would inevitably still see a reduction to Ealing.
- If the district could still run say 4 tph to Ealing I suppose this could be deemed acceptable but given LU want at least 25% to other branches I would imagine 5 tph would be highly unlikely. Does the District now have enough trains to run to greater capacity than the previous 10 minute frequencies on the branches?
- does a reduced Ealing Broadway District line service mean reduced train Operator levels at Acton Town? With enhanced service levels to Richmond and Wimbledon one could reasonably think that additional staff would be required at Earls Court but from memory there isn’t a lot of space to hold additional drivers in its current form (“current” assuming nothing has changed since I left the line)
