The 7 is definitely not good for airport views, I’d be mightily impressed if anyone had the eyesight to see Heathrow from East Acton He means the First Berkshire 7, not the Metroline one xD It goes Heathrow Central. Hey, how are 464, R5/10 and 320 not listed here yet? Ah I was aware it was the Berkshire 7 that was being referred to, I should have made my sarcasm clearer The 464 has been on my to do list for ages now, it’s just a shame there’s nothing easy about getting on it unless you’re a local. It’s one of only two TfL routes to serve no rail station (359 is the other), it runs completely in the middle of nowhere and at the worst of times runs at an hourly frequency, so mistime your journey and you’ll be waiting in that same middle of nowhere for a very long time. Not to mention it’s as close to Central London as Cornwall is

I enjoy fast country lane running and U9/331 are both pretty good for that, as well as 298 north of Cockfosters. 246, 464 and W3 as mentioned before are on my hit list, along with 465, preferably in a Citaro K! 251 also mentioned is a personal favourite of mine, though do it when it's not busy. I decided to get up at the crack of dawn to do the 605 to Totteridge (and later take this photo) which didn't disappoint but it requires some dedication! Central London routes are all particularly stunning; I enjoy the 139 when the traffic's not too bad (did it on an early Saturday morning once and flying through town was great). Not a London route but if you get a 702 which goes up Legoland hill to the main entrance, the view coming back down from there is stunning. And if you're in Windsor, why not catch the White Bus 01 which goes through Windsor Great Park?

Not to mention it’s as close to Central London as Cornwall is I honestly wouldn’t say the 464 is that bad - you’ve expressed it like the route is some “standalone” route serving a rural community - admittedly, the Tatsfield terminus could be described as that but the other end is much different, many bus and tram links to further afield - if you are planning a trip, do one mid morning, start at New Addington down to Tatsfield and then wait for the same bus to return - think the wait was something like 8-12 minutes

The 139 is one of my absolute favourites, brilliant route especially now with LS running the shop with its brilliant G2&G3 HVs. The 465 is also a very good route, done that too. The bit where it runs alongside the Thames (Portsmouth Road) just before getting into Kingston is stunning, another favourite location of mine. Really really nice variety of non-standard vehicles to be found on there also.

Tram is your best option. Get it to Addington and pray your wait is short. If not, jump back on the tram, then bail and get the tram back to kill time I'm always lucky with 464 and 359 times somehow 😁

This caused huge delays on the route which meant we had to bail out in Biggin Hill to get the R8 which was also on our list. To do this day the 464 and R8 remain unfinished as it is such an effort to construct a viable schedule and it's a slog from NE London. There is a Southdown PSV route that links Westerham and Tatsfield which offers a way to do the 464 and 246 on the same day - *provided* you can get the times to work and nothing runs late.

Not a TfL route, but the Arriva 331 between Hertford & Royston is just magnificent if you love the view of miles and miles of fields whilst hitting 40-50 on country roads.

Life’s greatest pleasure is watching the lights and skyscrapers from Ally Pally on the top deck of my beloved W3 (if only it had OmniCitys instead of boring Ts...)
