Either that or withdrawn/curtailed. Shades of what happened when TfL introduced the Euro3 restriction, crippled cross boundary services. The 505 being the prime example of that which if I'm not mistaken, was using Volvo B6BLE Crusaders at the time? That would probably explain why Chingford & Kings Head Hill are outside the LEZ The odd thing about Chingford is that the map on TfL's site shows that the bus turning area is within the LEZ, even though the main road is not. So strictly speaking, anything that terminates at Chingford does enter the LEZ, including the 379 which I've seen described as the only TfL route not to enter the LEZ.
I assume that in practice the LEZ is not enforced at that point, given there are no road signs indicating entry into the Zone at the bus turning circle. The same goes for the station forecourt.

Can confirm this : but I guess once Guildford P&R resumes they will have to go back. At some stage pretty soon the current regular vehicles on the 715 will need to be replaced as none are ULEZ compliant. Either that or withdrawn/curtailed. Shades of what happened when TfL introduced the Euro3 restriction, crippled cross boundary services. Well - let’s hope not, because on a personal level that will make my commute horribly awkward 😔

According to latest LOTs news, the 715 Guildford-Kingston is seeing some of the electric E200s whilst not needed for suspended P&R services Didn’t see this coming, but I guess it is one way to meet the LEZ requirements from March A few did get to stretch their legs last week, but I think it was to get them out and give them a run as much as anything. It’s been back to Enviros again the last few days. Indeed they couldn’t be a permanent fixture on the 715 as their roof-mounted equipment makes them too tall for the 11’0” bridge on Lower Green Road on the Sunday routing. I understand the plan is for a bit of a fleet reshuffle to take place this month, which will see some Euro VI diesel Enviro 200MMCs transfer in to Guildford from other depots.

Thanks for that : as a regular 715 commuter that is most reassuring. I can’t say I’m much of a fan of the current Enviro 300s on the route (I preferred the Pointer Darts!) so some nice Enviro 200MMCs will be most welcome.

I’m sure at least one or two of you might be interested 😂 but in highly exciting 715 news, E200MMCs 37406/7 have transferred back to Winchester from Guildford, but ‘original design’ E200s 37291/2 have come to Guildford from Basingstoke to replace them, meaning the 715 ‘fleet’ is now 37291, 37292 and 37408. Still the occasional leccy E200 appearing on the 715 too.
Now go on, somebody like this post 🤣

Interesting changes.
Looks like the return of the pre-2011 411 via Godstone, with Chaldon potentially losing its bus service entirely except school services.

Yes, although the routeing of the 411 isn't clear, I assume it will be running via Godstone, otherwise it would just be a renumbering of the 357.
Shame the 357 is going. It always seemed an unlikely service to run commercially, even if it was only a marginal cost off the school buses which bring in the revenue. I guess the best Chaldon can hope for is if Surrey CC fund a couple of journeys on a Buses4U service (or similar) - perhaps their existing 540 could be tweaked to include Chaldon in some way. Not sure how that would work though.

The routing has been confirmed as being via Chaldon, but every 2 hours rather than hourly as per the 357.

The Surrey CC page states that it will run via Whyteleafe Hill, so does this mean that Caterham Station is unserved, or is there a double-run to serve it? The main purpose of the existing 411 is to link the station with the Caterham-on-the-Hill / Village area.
Given that the route will have so little in common with the existing 411, or with the previous 411, it might have been better to choose a new number altogether.

It's a double run. Details can be found on the front page of Southdown's website. The new route goes direct from Reigate to Redhill (Timperley Gardens is served by the revised 422/424 which now run a circular service), then via the 357 to Caterham, then via the 409 to Warlingham but via Caterham Village, with a couple of extensions to Selsdon / Chelsham. It runs every 50-70 minutes between Caterham and Warlingham, then every 2 hours to Reigate. I think this has come about from the 357 not being viable as a commercial service - I think Surrey CC might now be supporting the 411 given the old 540 used to run every 2 hours via the Chaldon section. It does get some use from college students in particular who don't always travel at traditional school times. It also represents a reduction in service between Warlingham and Selsdon though I hardly ever see anyone using the bus on that section. Interesting that the 422/424 are withdrawn from Crawley given that the villages like Smallfield will lose their links there.

Is it likely that Safeguard Coaches (Jacobs Well), Falcon Coaches (Byfleet), Stagecoach (Guildford) or White Bus (Woking or Ascot) would bid for and win cross-border TfL services like the 81, 116, 117, 203, 216, 235, 290, 411, 465 or K3 when they are next up for tender?

A tiny, tiny, microscopically tiny chance that Falcon might - the rest are too far away, even if other parts of the North Surrey network end up with TfL in the future.
