I have never really got why Citybus continue to operate the 104 and 105 to Tavistock as it does not fit in with their operations at all , even more so if it looses money, at least Stagecoach run commercial services to Tavistock so surely it would sit much better within their service 1 operation? Common sense wise. Citybus have never managed to make money out of Tavistock route and could not get out quick enough when First pulled out back in 2015. I just feel that asking kids or gheir parents to pay £900 for use on service 104 and 105 only and is of no use any other time is crazy especially when Stagecoach X1 provides the same for a fraction of the price and provide a 15 min frequency to Plymouth that passes can be used on! Just think it would be a common sense approach that would work better financially for both companies especially in these difficult times and would be better for customers too. Maybe I am just being too simplistic but could work especially in these non competitive times

Filers Travel has reintroduces its 302 service (Woolacombe - Ilfracombe - Combe Martin) for the school summer holiday period. The route runs on Mondays to Fridays only from 25th July to 2nd September and supplements routes 31 and 301.

I see some changes to Stagecoach services in Plymouth starting to appear on VOSA and travelline....
101 Park and Ride withdrawn... seems George Junction is served by enhanced 10 min frequency number 1 between Royal Parade and George via Mutley and Derriford. Every 2nd bus continues to Tavistock (every 20 mins). This provides a much improved service for Mannamead Road and Mutley from Stagecoach (at least every 10 mins, more frequent in peak hours), but no service at all along Outland Road.
From what I can make out Citybus 61 is diverted from Cherry Tree along Outland Road to provide 30 min frequency between Milehouse Park and Ride and city centre (although Stagecoach 2/2a passes very close to Milehouse site). Only citybus 34 covers Milehouse site to Derriford Hospital as far as I can tell ?
It is showing that 200 Coypool Park and Ride is cancelled, any idea if there is a replacement service here?
Also note City Council services 19 and 31 are cancelled have Stagecoach lost these?
City college 36 passes from Stagecoach to Citybus.
All changes from September 5th.

Interesting change to the 1, there has been speculation in the past that the 101 would divert via Mutley but this seems to be a better use of resources. I expect the 19 and 31 are going to CityBus - but another operator could be taking them. They might also be withdrawn as Plymouth City Council isn't getting any BSIP money so may need to trim its supported services.

Yes I think commercially for Stagecoach using the resources on the 1 route is very sensible, they pick up hell of a lot more customers on Mannamead Road compared to Outland Road and could get even more increasing frequency in this way...they need to advertise their fares etc at bus stops though!! I can't believe though that there is no service to Coypool and worry that Stagecoach ops in Plymouth are getting even smaller! There are still rumours of a sale to First going around too

Plymouth CityBus, Transport for Cornwall (including Hopley's, OTS and Travel Cornwall) and First Kernow have introduced "Tap and Cap" for contactless payment. To use, simply tap a payment card on the driver's ticket machine reader on boarding, and tap the same card on the reader by the exit on leaving the bus. The maximum daily cap is £5, and the maximum 7-day cap is £20 - this includes cross-boundary journeys between Devon and Cornwall. If the cap is not reached, only the journey(s) made is paid for. People buying tickets for more than one person, and people buying reduced-rate tickets (e.g. child) will still need to purchase paper tickets from the driver. Tap and Cap was introduced on Tuesday 26th July. Tap and cap is not available on Stagecoach buses, or those of other operators, and journeys on these buses do not count towards the daily or weekly cap. . www.plymouthbus.co.uk/tapandcap

It is a shame that Stagecoach never seem to be involved in anything in Plymouth!

It is being suggested on another forum that Oakley's Coaches is giving up its contracted bus routes this month and that Plymouth CityBus will be taking them on. If so this is an interesting development, as it means that CityBus will be operating some services on the edge of Dartmoor (55, 56, 59) that were once operated by its predecessor Plymouth Corporation Transport, as part of its Joint Service Agreement with Western National.
EDIT: routes 55, 56, 59 and 98 were retendered by Devon County Council and were won by Plymouth CityBus.
The routes involved are:
52: Plympton - Derriford Hospital EDIT: this route is a Plymouth City Council contract and is not changing operator at this time 55: Tavistock/Yelverton - Milton Combe (serving the delightfully named Crapstone!) 56: Tavistock/Yelverton - Dousland 59: Plymouth - Lee Moor - Shaugh Prior - George Junction 98: Tavistock - Princetown - Yelverton

Go Cornwall Bus has announced service changes from Sunday 4th September. These recognise that travel patterns have changed as services recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, and that funding to support the existing pattern of service ends in the Autumn. www.gocornwallbus.co.uk/cornwall-service-changes-september-2022As far as services into Plymouth/Devon go, the following changes will occur: 11 (Plymouth-Bodmin Parkway) will be extended once again to Padstow, replacing route 10. Will become a through service operating from Plymouth to Padstow. 12 (Plymouth-Bude) hourly frequency between Plymouth and Callington retained, but reduced to two-hourly between Callington and Launceston. Service will therefore be hourly Plymouth-Callington and two-hourly on to Bude. 70/70A (Plymouth-Cremyll) rerouted around the Great Parks area of Torpoint to restore a through service to and from Plymouth. Journeys will operate to Crafthole and Portwrinkle for students. 72 (Plymouth - Looe & Polperro) new timetable for winter period, no longer serves Hannafore Point in Looe (route 77 will provide a service instead) 72A (Plymouth-Saltash, St Stephen's) revised timetable with revised route in St Stephen's area following passenger feedback. 75A (Torpoint Ferry-Plymouth via Saltash) most journeys withdrawn, but service for Saltash Community School retained. 79/79A (Callington-Tavistock) extra direct journeys introduced.

Just wandering when do you think Stagecoach are going to tell people about their Plymouth changes in September? I would think has it involves the cancellation of routes, namely 101 and 200 in particular they need to give minimal 1 month so people don't buy passes etc that are no use to them and have time to make alternative arrangements?

The timetables for the interworked 55/56/98 are the same, but the 59 is extended from George Park & Ride to Derriford Hospital and runs at revised times towards Plymouth. The first journey starts at Milehouse Depot and the last journey is extended there, operating in service between Milehouse and Derriford! Stagecoach South West routes 19 and 31 are shown as operating until 3rd September, no replacement services have been posted yet. Also of interest is that Gold has a new timetable from Sunday 4th September and is withdrawn between Torquay and Paignton, presumably to cut costs.

All other are Devon County contracts but 52 is a Plymouth one could be why. Withdraw Gold between Paignton and Torquay makes sense as plenty of other Stagecoach services cover thus part of route

It appears the 52 (which is a Plymouth City Council contract) is not being taken on at this time. Mercedes minibuses have been acquired for the interworked 55, 56 and 98 as smaller vehicles are better suited to the Dartmoor roads. These routes will have a new Dartmoor weekly ticket (£15 adult, £12 child) which will give unlimited travel on these three routes. The timetables for these routes are unchanged. The 59 is being extended from George Junction to serve Marjon and Derriford Hospital, which will mean timing changes on journeys towards Plymouth City Centre. The whole route can be travelled with a Zone 3 pass. The first journey from Derriford starts from Milehouse Depot and the last arrival at Derrifird continues to Milehouse, these journeys are operated in service. Timetables are now on the CityBus website. www.plymouthbus.co.uk/new-routes-plymouth-citybus

Details are now coming through of Plymouth CityBus and Stagecoach South West changes in Plymouth from Sunday 4th September. There are also a handful of changes to services in South Devon from Monday 5th September.

No mention of route 28A. 34/34A - 34A withdrawn, 34 reverts to operating via Millbay and King William Yard at all times. The schoolday journeys which continue as route 5 to/from Coombe Dean School will be partially replaced by new school route 806 (see below) 35/35A - rerouted via Weston Park Road in Peverell 36 - contract for the Plymouth City College route 36 passes from Stagecoach to Plymouth CityBus 50S/51S - these journeys will be replaced by a new school route 107 (see below) 61/62 - route revised, with all buses running as route 61. The revised route will take in Milehouse Park & Ride as a partial replacement for Stagecoach route 101 which is being withdrawn - full details to follow (not yet on Traveline) 107 - new school route, Milehouse to Tor Bridge High School (Estover) via St Budeaux, Whitleigh and Southway. Replaces 50S/51S 806 - new school route, Devonport Granby Way to Coombe Dean School (Plymstock) via City Centre. Replaces school journeys on routes 34 and 5.
Apart from the above, routes 23/24, 33, 42, 42A, 42C and 43 all have timetable changes to improve reliability.
Stagecoach South West (Plymouth) from Sunday 4th September
1 - revised timetable, Monday-Saturday daytime service will operate every 20 minutes between Tavistock and Plymouth, with additional buses between George Park & Ride and Plymouth giving a ten-minute frequency over this section. Evening and Sunday service remains hourly over the whole route. 36 - contract for Plymouth City College route 36 passes from Stagecoach to Plymouth CityBus 101 - route withdrawn. Extra journeys will operate over route 1 between George Park & Ride and Plymouth City Centre as a partial replacement. Plymouth CityBus route 61 will be revised to operate via Milehouse Park & Ride. 200 - Coypool Park & Ride service withdrawn, no notice has been given of any replacement. DY1 - new contract service operating between Chaddlewood (Plympton) and Devonport Dockyard - details to follow
Plymouth City Council contracted routes 19 and 31 are shown as ending on 3rd September with no news yet of any replacements.
Other changes to Stagecoach South West services from Monday 5th September
2 (Exeter-Newton Abbot) - on Dawlish Community College days, the 14.32 departure from Newton Abbot will be retimed to 14.47 and will operate 15 minutes later to Dawlish Community College, thence 20 minutes later towards Exeter. On all Mondays to Fridays the 16.36 departure from Exeter will be retimed to 16.51 and will operate 15 minutes later throughout. 88 - extended in Totnes to operate in a one-way loop via Bridgetown, Pathfields, Westonfields, Higher Westonfields, Blackpost Lane, Bridgetown Hill and Bridgetown. The 88C college day journeys to and from South Devon College will operate via Westonfields in both directions. Gold - withdrawn between Paignton Bus Station and Torquay, routes 12 and 22 provide frequent alternatives over this section. In Totnes, revised to operate via Bridgetown Hill direct in both directions and will no longer operate through the Westonfields area, changes to route 88 will provide a partial replacement. Revised timetable, although frequencies between Paignton and Plymouth remain broadly the same.
***********************************************************
It's also worth mentioning that First South West's "Discover Exeter" tour is formally withdrawn from Sunday 4th September, having been suspended since mid-July due to ongoing covid-related staff absence. The operator needs to prioritise its college contracts.

Yet still no official announcement of these changes and in some case cancellations coming up very shortly from either Stagecoach or Citybus. This is very strange as both companies normally are quite good at providing info in advance and also very poor as they are walking into a load of refund requests from people buying monthly tickets etc for buses that won't exist!
